I have read some good and bad reviews on Les Chefs. In a few of the bad ones people mentioned that the food tasted like a frozen dinner, but no one mentioned what they ate...so I'm wondering what people have eaten that was great and what was no so great. Thank you in advance for your input.
We are excited about eating there in Dec, but want to make sure we order the good stuff and not the bad stuff:rotfl:

Are you eating there for lunch or dinner? It is one of my favorites for lunch. The onion soup is a must. I am a picky eater, but like everything in the 3 course lunch (except the lobster bisque - allergic to shellfish).

We had dinner there. I had the Gratin de macaroni - Baked macaroni with cream and gruyere cheese and almost couldn't eat it. I am not picky at all but this was SO rich and SO think it was near unedible and the gruyere cheese has a different flavor...not a good one IMO

My husband and son had the Canard au miel, haricots vert et pommes de terre douce - Roasted breast of duck and leg confit, French green beans and sweet potato, spiced honey sauce - They both LOVED their meal.

My daughter had the Plat de cote de boeuf au cabernet avee pates - Beef short ribs braised in Cabernet wine with pasta, pearl onions and mushrooms and also LOVED it. I tried it too and it was delicious.

We had the Creme Brulee and Profiterolles au Chocolat for dessert and they were both very good.

Hope that helps!

I've eaten both a lunch and a dinner at Les Chef and while both were enjoyable, I liked dinner better. The lunch prix fixe meal at lunch was kind of cheese and egg heavy (mac and cheese, ham and cheese sandwhich, or quiche), which isn't my favorite - I had the ham and cheese which was okay, but a bit to much cheese for my tastes. I agree with the PP, the onion soup is wonderful. It's one of my favorites. For dinner I had the braised short ribs and those were excellent. I'd recommend those.

In both cases the desserts were really good. At lunch I had the profiterolies and for dinner the chocolate cake.

We've had both lunch and dinner. The shortribs, the steak with pepper sauce, and the duck were all very excellent, although I liked the duck confit more than the duck breast. The Quiche Lorraine was okay - not memorable. Least successful was the smoked chicken crepe. We also liked the onion soup and the selection of patés and charcuteries (Assiette Campagnarde). All of the desserts we tried were excellent - profiteroles, apple crepe and the selection of 3 sorbets.

Love it there and we always have dinner when we go and have YET to have a bad meal.We have tried many of the dishes on the menu with no problems whatsoever

We loved it. We went in December for the first time.

DH had the roasted chicken and loved it. I had the braised short ribs, which were delicious! And, of course, the onion soup was very good.

We had a very late dinner there so we were full and tired by the time the desserts came. I had the creme brulee and he had the chocolate mousse cake. I don't remember them so much.

That said, we are going this year for lunch.

On our last trip, my girlfriend and I had dinner at Les Chef's. She had the beef tenderloin with pepper sauce which was very good. The cut of beef was tender enough to cut with a butter knife and the sauce was very tastey. I had the seafood skewer which was also very good. The skewer was surprisingly filling and the sauce on it was very nice.

We, unfortunately, had the worst meal we've ever had at WDW there. Actually, the only bad meal. So bad, we left after two hours and not eating - took that long to get our dinner and sent it back (and the manager came over and was so weird and kind of rude). We ordered a filet of beef that was so overcooked, and it smelled like airplane food (you know, that frozen food smell).

I do think it's hit or miss there. Our server was not trained well (I think he was new). It was a busy night.

I won't be going back there ever. Now - upstairs at Bistro de Paris - that was wonderful - well over $400 for dinner for us (two kids also) but so good and great service. Fun memorable dinner!

We were there in June for dinner. The duck and the filet were both delicious. My son had the dish that had shrimp, scallops and something else -- it was not good at all. The sorbet with fresh berries was great, as were the crepes and profiteroles.

That was the first time we had dinner there. We liked it so much that it has moved up to our must-do list!!

Enjoy!

My husband and I had dinner here on 12/17/10, part of the CP, on the DXDDP. We had ADRs in the 6 o'clock hour for the 8 o'clock show, but it was rainy cold and DH, who has rods and plates in his back from a surgery, was hurting badly enough to make him want to leave by 4 pm. Knowing we would lose 4 TS credits by missing the meal or cancelling, and knowing that there was no way we could last the day, I left DH in the America pavillion where he was sheltered and booked it to France to ask (beg) for a change of reservations. Despite an hour-long wait line for walk-ups, the managers listened to my problem and graciously took me right in and changed my CP cards to the earlier showing. DH made his way down and we were served by the incredible Jeremy, near a window. The restaurant was gorgeous and the service was better than any I have ever had, despite our rush to make it to the CP show. We both had salads (very good), and both loved our desserts (creme brulee and chocolate mousse cake), but the entrees left oh so much to be desired. I had the filet with potatoes and beans, all of which was perfectly cooked but exceptionally bland. I, the woman who never doctors or spices her food, so infrequently even cooks with salt that I have had the same bottle of Morton's for the first 3 years of my marriage, salted everything. Nothing had any taste at all. DH, lover of Tobasco and pepper, also commented that although his sides were okay, his chicken was very dry and more bland than anything he eaten in years. We didn't send anything back as we were strained for time and determined to enjoy our experience even if it wasn't what we had hoped. Considering the package was 2 TS credits per person, or $60 each person OOP, and the show itself was not all that I had expected (another story), I would NOT do the CP again. The establishment itself- I might return, but only for lunch, as our dinner would have been pricey CP or not. The ambiance, service, and creme brulee are the only highlights for me.

Thank you everyone for your input and keep the info coming!!!!:). I'm getting hungry reading all of these. We are going for dinner with the CP in Dec, there will be six of us and figure we will pretty much all get something different and see what is great and what is not so much, I'm sure we won't go hungry:rotfl:

Thanks again.

Over the years, we had: Duck, Beef Short Ribs, Gruyere Mac & Cheese, Scallops & Shrimps, and more that I can't remember. We loved everything.

For dessert, we always fall back on our 2 sure bets: Sorbet (their texture is perfect!) or Profiteroles with that perfect chocolate sauce.

Going to Chefs is mandatory for an Epcot visit, we went twice in one trip at one time!

Um, the Bistro de Paris kicks Les Chefs booty ;), but what I remember loving at Les Chefs was the salad. Any salad. And the desserts! I haven't been to Les Chefs since September 2004, so there are, I'm sure, changes to the menu. I had the vegetarian lasagna for my entree, with a side salad. For dessert I had the Profiterolles au Chocolat and they were fabulous!

I'm one of the people who said it was like a boxed frozen dinner.

I tried to Onion Soup and it wasn't bad....but I can make it much better myself and there's a local restaurant I eat it at that's not even French, and they do it a million times better than Les Chefs.

We tried to Goat Cheese Flatbread and that was kind of sad. There was hardly any goat cheese on it, and it wasn't like a true French goat cheese for me. The tomato sauce was like stuff from a jar - not bad, but not something I want to pay so much money for. The crust was akin to the refrigerated rolled pizza dough you get in the dairy case and undercooked.

The real disappointment was the roasted chicken dish. The chicken was kind of dry and lacked any real flavor. The potatoes were like frozen home fries from a bag, and the tomatoes were just....meh.

The Creme Brulee was passable, but nothing I'd ever order again. Same situation as the soup for me - I can make it better than they do, and if I want it in a restaurant, that same local place makes it wonderfully.

It was the most underwhelming meal I've ever had at Disney. Plus, our server was totally indifferent and didn't seem to really care about what he was doing.

We went in July and loved the food, atmosphere, and service. I ordered the toasted ham and cheese, onion soup, and salad. My daughter got some kind of crepe, and my mom got onion soup, salad, and quiche. We will definitely go back, it was one of our favorite restaurants.
