Well I got a pin today for 35% off rooms for next August, which will save us some money but not as much as free dining! So do I book it or do I take the chance that there will be free dinning at the end of August. Or can I book it and if there is free dinning change it? :confused3

Why not call and ask to be certain. We had a reservation a few years ago and they added the free dining once it was offered, a few months after we had booked.

CerysG:

I read your post on food sensitives, that could factor in to your decision and how you feel about Disney meals. Also, the level that you plan to stay at would also factor in. You would save a lot off a moderate, or a deluxe. Plus you could have a kitchenette with some rooms (AKL Value studio etc) Another aspect of this is, do you absolutely want to be there in August and would you do so if there was no free dining. That could push you to book. I think if you use a pin, you can change it to free dining (this may costs you a small amount of money, when they refund your first deposit ... due to conversion fees ... but this is insignificant)

I tend to tire of the Disney menus. That is why the first part of our trip this year has dining, but the last 1/3rd does not. I find that I need to make special trips to DTD, Wolfgang Puck for the Half Chicken and mashed potatoes eith CS credits. I also tend to over eat at BOMA ... yes, I know .. no one to blame but myself. Several plates of food and desserts ... I gain 10lbs a week. Big piggie ... :confused3

Congrats on getting a pin! Definitely tempting to book, but I'd do what the other poster said and call to see what your options are should free dining come up :)

I guess I should just give them a call and see what they say. We will go no matter what but saving some money means we can put it into doing other things and maybe getting a few extra's.
Ted thanks for your thoughts and I hear you about the disney food. I'm sure by the time we get home we will be really sick of eating out (we will be at Universal for a week first) but I also don't want to spend my holiday cooking either. My food sensitivites are in no way life threatening so even if I do eat something I should the worse I get it hives (though those can get upleasant at times) and actually I often find eating out easier to manage things then when eating at peoples houses. As for going in the end of August, it would not be my first choice as I would rather go a little later in the fall but my oldest is in grade 10 (11 by then) and we just can't take her out of school for a few weeks. I'm trying to pick a time where it will be a little quieter but no one misses school and the last week of August fits that.
If the worse that happens is I lose the $200 then I think if free dining comes out I'll just change it.
Thanks everyone for their thoughs.
