:teacher I resently won a contest and the prize was A TRIP TO DISNEY! Now I am able to plan the trip however I want. We are going in November (1-10) I want to stay at BWVor BC or YC I love Epcot and I love the ease of getting around but it is expensive. Any suggestions about the price? Does anyone know when they come out with the free dinning offers? Should I go for free dinning or 30% a room? HELP ME!!!!!

Congratulations on your big win! The Epcot resorts are fabulous, especially if you and your family loves Epcot and DHS.

As far as discounts go, there aren't any for next fall yet. Some people have reported getting pin codes in the mail that are good for almost any time in 2012, but there's been nothing for the general public yet.

As far as comparing a room-only discount vs. free dining, you have to do the math for your family. For most people, 30 or 40 percent off a deluxe room is a better deal than free dining.

Happy planning! :goodvibes

Hey, congrats on your win. What's included in your trip to Disney?

I am curious too, only because usually a trip to WDW includes the room? Anyways, the 30% off a deluxe usually saves a bit more than free dining. But if you are going to eat at a lot of the expensive restuarants or character meals then that might change things. Allears is a good sight to look at for restuarants, menus and prices.

Is there a price limit you cannot exceed for your prize trip or something? Otherwise, I'm not sure why you would even try to get a room discount...I would choose free dining if there is no price limit.

Among the list of resorts you are thinking about I would go with Boardwalk Villas because in my opinion they are the best of the Epcot Resorts due to their theme and atmosphere. Plus you are a 5 minute walk to the International Gateway entrance of Epcot and they are the closest resort to Hollywood Studios, so if you walk there it takes about 15 minutes. So I would say they have the best location among the Epcot Resorts.

let me get this straight........

you won a trip to Disney that doesn't include rooms and you're hesitant to stay in a pricier resort?

so stay at a mod
problem solved

stay off property
problem solved

give trip away to someone who would more appreciate it

something doesn't smell quite right here (imnsho):snooty:

A trip valued at $5,000.00 to Disney and then $5,000.00 in cash. Great Prize! After Uncle Sam took his chunk (4100.00) we are left to spend it anyway we want.

Don't get me wrong we are VERY excited the only problem is our vacations for next year were already booked and paid for. This is going to be a 3rd vacation for us and we just did not plan on spending any more money on trips. The last time we were in Disney - last May- we told ourselfs that we would only go back if we could do 10 days as 7 was way to short :lovestruc

Now we are trying to plan for this trip and we have to go through a travel agent. She has set the price for one room at the Epcot resorts at over $8,000! I have to get that price down. We stayed at a value resort and we HATED it. We had people looking in our room while we slept! Plus I will be traveling with a person who has downs syndrom. Waiting for the bus at the end of the night for a value resort will push him and me over the edge!
Can you think of any other resort I could try? I am looking for not so terrible bus service or just transportation in general.
Thank you for all of your well wishes and your help! :yay:

Read the fine print...it states that you must donate the trip to ME!!!!! :goodvibes

Congratulations!! :thumbsup2

Last month, there was a free dining promo that would have fit into your 2012 dates (Nov 1-10). You will probably have to wait quite a while to see if any Nov 2012 discounts are released, so you can either book a great vacation with hopes that a discount will come out, or you can wait to book the vacation...I would think it would be okay to not book your vacation yet but you would have to check.

I just did a super quick price check on a Yacht Club garden view room for 2 adults, 2 kids (entered in ages 7 and 4...not sure if you have kids or if so their ages), Disney Dining Plan, 10-day base tickets (no park hoppers)...which comes to $6401. With no dining plan, it is $5203. So you should be able to stay in a great resort no matter what.

You can choose to pay OOP for your meals if you want to stay in a deluxe resort, or you can consider a moderate resort like Coronado Springs which is the most deluxe of the Mods. The same trip in a standard CSR room with the dining plan would be under $5000 I'm sure. These figures are all assuming no discounts are released for your dates.

Definitely ask if you can wait to book, or if not, ask if they are willing to make changes to your trip if better offers come out, etc.

Personally, I would try to book the best resort with a dining plan that doesn't exceed $5000, and keep the prize money aside, or I would put a portion of the prize money toward a super fancy resort package if you are allowed to pay the difference.
