I have been battling this decision back and forth for a month or so. I can't make a decision.

My Maclaren stroller was stolen in December right outside of Sci-Fi. I am sure some of you remember that. We are going back to DW in Sept. I really want another Maclaren but I fear it will happen again. My daughter is 4 will be 5 at the time of travel BUT she was diagnosed with diabetes just days before we left for vacation in December. So we need the stroller so she doesn't over exert herself. She tires easily now.

My dilemna is to buy a cheap Walmart stroller for $15 since she will be 5 or to invest in another good stroller to use for another 2-3 years but take the chance of it being stolen again. I know it doesn't happen often but still........

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

The cheap ones are hard to push the heavier the kid is.

My little princess at that age also learned that with the cheap ones she could get her feet down and stop the stroller when she wanted to. Say she wanted to see something and you didn't want to stop. My little one also foudn it a fun game to play, stop the stroller at the most inconvient times.

Go with a more expensive one. I think you would regret getting a cheap umbrella stroller. Now you might want to check out E-bay or your local store that sells used child clothes and stuff, to see if you can get a used one cheaper than a new one.

Just a thought but you could do a swap at WDW, and if you still use the stroller around home then get the one that is the better quality. You will probably regret having the cheaper one at WDW, when you are depending on it everyday.

Thanks, Teach. The Maclaren was my first umbrella stroller so I didn't know the cheap ones would be hard to push. Thanks for the info.

I really really want another Mac. I am gun shy now about leaving stuff in my stroller and leaving the stroller itself. I will take your advice and go to consignment shops. I have 6 months to look. ;)

I did look at the swaps. Not available during my time. Thanks! :goodvibes

Go for the Maclaren. It will be worth it to have a nice stroller, not only for her, but for you guys too. (I know you already know that) I bought a bike lock to put through the back wheels (it was a really skinny cable with a key) It fit through my single maclaren techno but not my double maclaren. The single was purchased in '06 so the wheel spokes were wider and able to accomodate the cable. So that would definatly put your mind at ease with leaving it unattended (if you can find a cable to fit) And when your child outgrows the stroller, you can sell it and get some money back. Craigslist, consignment shops, tag sales, etc. I know CMs frown upon locking your stroller, just thread it through the wheels so the cms can move it if needed.

we have already said if we buy another Mac WE WILL buy a bike lock. Did you thread the lock through the front tires or back?

Personally, I always bring a cheap one. My DD never uses a stroller anywhere other than Disney so it would be a waste for me to buy a nice one. DS13, DMom and I don't have any trouble pushing her although it is difficult for DH because he is so much taller. FWIW, on our last trip she was 42" tall and about 45lbs.

check out the royal carriage strollers...there are a few dates available in August. now, they are double strollers, but, only $10/week and you could use the other side for souvies and bags you may have. There's a link in my signature below.

Go for the Mac. Personally I wouldn't mess with a bike lock because of the fact that I think it would be a pain in the butt - but then I have never had a stroller stolen. I will say though that out of 8 trips - 7 with a Mac - for a total of about 70 park days we've never had a stroller problem....so I think it was just an isolated unfortunate incident (not that I fault you for being "gun shy" now)

No advice but just had to comment on your stroller being stolen....That's just WRONG!

Thanks. I appreciate it.

(I posted about it when we first came home). WDW gave us free rental the rest of the week, compensated the new tshirt, sunglasses, and refillable mugs that was in the bottom of stroller.
