There is a Brittney Spaniel in the yard of the house I stand by to wait for my bus. I can't see into the yard well enough to see if he has a dog house, but today I saw him scrunched up against the house in an attempt to avoid the ice/snow. Do I make a call ro Humane Society or first try to peer into their yard, at the risk of them seeing me?

Definitely need to make the call and let them handle it. If something needs to be done, they will do it and you can rest easy knowing that that little one isn't going to freeze to death.

Is he 'stuck' outside all day or was he 'just' outside for a little while to go potty?

but every time I walk by he is outside, and he just layed on the porch without asking to be brought in...plus he looked quite dirty.

Make the call ASAP...you've got nothing to lose. I recently had to call the authorities regarding a neighbor's dog without shelter (chained to a tree! ) during a major snow storm. I don't regret it one bit. You will only regret if you don't act....not if you do. ;)

Awww poor baby. :(

Although one of my dogs loves to be outside, he's driving me nuts. He's a Golden, he goes outside, sits down, so I call him and let him in, then 5 minutes later he wants to go back out again. DH thinks he gets too hot inside so he's constantly asking to go out. I feel bad when he's out there for more than 10 minutes, so we play this little game all day. He's go me totally wrapped around his little paw too.

Aahmom, our late Sam was a golden retriver/black lab cross, and I couldn't keep him in the house when it snowed. His favorite thing was a good blizzard, and I couldn't get him in the house to save my life.

Luvwinnie, it sounds like this poor dog needs your help. Let us know what happens?

sounds like my husky firecracker. i've finally gotten to point where I let him out for 30 min at a time than i drag him back in and let him out again after hour is up.

He LOVES the snow!! He also loves water, so in the summer he's in the pool, in the winter he wants to sit in the snow. LOL Strange dog. :)

My lab mix is the same way. She loves the snow or water.

Ya wanna hear something funny? I have an American Eskimo that hates snow and water. LOL
