What to do with younger son during Halloween Horror Nights?

We'll be staying on-site at RPH from Sept. 29 - Oct. 3

My 15 y/o will go to HHN with my husband on our first night, but I am clueless on what to do with my 9 y/o son so he will not feel "left out of the fun". We will have a car; however, I don't think it would be a good idea for me to go out andr drive alone with him some place else. Any ideas?

Why not? There is all kinds of fun things to do in the area that he would probably enjoy. Mini-golf, Wonderworks, Ripleys.

There are two mini golf courses themed to Monsters and Sci Fi. Sounds like the perfect junior version of HHN to me!

DH, me and our 3 girls (11, 10, 8) spent about 5 hours at Wonderworks on July 4th. We went thinking it would be a quick 2 hour thing, but... no! Lots to do that kept their interest. Check the hours if you plan to go in late afternoon/evening, but I can tell you, there was a lot there to keep everyone's interest. It ended up being a much longer day than we planned!

It's really not that scary outside the resort gates, I promise. Some of us actually live here!

You could always drive down to Disney for the evening and go to Downtown Disney/Marketplace.. others have mentioned Wonderworks, there's also Pointe Orlando (shopping), Dave and Busters.. Or you could go to a movie at CityWalk or Downtown Disney. If you go downtown, there's the Orlando Science Center which can be very fun.

Mini Golf at Citywalk is really good....he would probably enjoy that a lot, and the cinema is there of course.

I honestly wouldn`t worry about driving alone with your son, it`s fine driving around. DTD is not very far if you wanted to go there or IDrive has a few things to offer.

Or just have a pool night with him......RPR pool is a lot of fun to be around

I would have fun at the pool and watch the dive-in movie. Then, the next morning, when your husband and oldest are sleeping in after their long night, you and your youngest can get up early and go do early entry to Harry Potter and have breakfast at the Three Broomsticks. If you don't have park tickets, check out the breakfast buffet at Islands Dining Room - absolutely delish!

I took 4 kids -ages 9,10,11,12- in June to see BMG. They all loved it. It is now a must see for our future trips.

you have so many great suggestions, you'll need two different evenings to do all that with younger son...!!


you could all do the regular park as a family until it closes.
maybe better if you leave the park around 4ish so you miss the crowds leaving.
city walk won't be busy and crowded until the park closes.

you and 9 yo leave and do dinner at city walk around 4:30.

hit mini golf for an hour then do a few splashes in the pool.

book the blue man group tickets for the later show.
finish up the evening being entertained with that.

I love the PP idea of MNSSHP. But if you feel more comfortable not driving then I would either play mini golf or pool hop.

Both if the other resorts have water slides at their pools.

At HRH the slide is bigger but the water in the pool is real shallow and the hot tubs are tiny also there is a beach so you get sand in your shorts. But it does have underwater speakers and a big cool slide.

The PBH has a curved slide and 2 nice big hot tubs.

Universal encourages pool hopping, just make sure you have your room key.
