First let me appoligize if this isn't the place to post this question!

My family has been to Disney many times, however I have one female child. We are planning a "FAMILY" trip next year with my cousin, and she has two boys age 11 yrs and 5 yrs. I am trying to get some ideas as to what we can do to ensure they enjoy the trip as this is the cousins and her families first trip. I am the planner so I need some ideas...HELP PLEASE :confused3
Thank you in advance!!!

I have 2 boys, and other than avoiding the princesses, there's not much else. The Pirates League @ Magic Kingdom lets the boys (and girls) be transformed into a pirate. Bibbity Bobbity Boutique will transform the boys into Prince Charming. Some of the character meals are more "generic" others are very princessey so make sure you know what your "getting" into. Even splitting up so the girls can do the princess thing and the boys, see whichever character, show or ride that they prefer might be an option. I have heard there is some sort of adventure cruise for the kids leaving from some of the hotels but haven't actually looked into that. Also, Tom Sawyer Island in MK is fun for boys (and girls!)

Get a hidden mickey book.. my boys love to search for hidden mickeys and they love to PIN trade (buy some from a reputable trader on ebay) with the cast members. None of these things are exclusively boy things but they work for us.

Hollywood Studios has the Star Wars training I think the 9 year old can do that still.

What kind of rides do the boys like? for example. my boys don't like roller coasters (one gets motion sick and one is like me and terrified of heights) so in planning our trips, I don't have to worry about the roller coasters.. at some point, DH will go off on his own to ride the coaster in the single rider line) You need to understand what types of rides/entertainment they enjoy before you can "picK" what to focus on.

Consider a pirate cruise or a visit to the Pirates League if you are looking for something extra other than the typical rides and attractions. Really, other than not spending too much time with the princesses you'll not need to worry about them having fun. 'Ohana's character breakfast, as well as the Crystal Palace or Chef Mickey's would be good choices for boys if you are looking to add a character meal.

Have fun!

We have two boys. I don't think there is much different taking girls vs. boys other than the boys not caring about meeting/dining with the princesses or Tinkerbell/fairies. We took them to The Pirates League last year and they loved it. We've also done the Pirate fireworks cruise that leaves from the Contemporary with my oldest and he had a great time (youngest is scared of the noise fireworks make).

Another favorite for them is going to the Lego store @ DTD. I just bought them each a gift card for the Lego Store and will give it to them before our trip.

We've done most all the character dining (except princesses) and several are *must do's* for us each trip. We love Chef Mickey's for the Fab 5, Garden Grill and also breakfast @ Ohana (the best food to us by far).

I think the hidden Mickey book and also pin trading are great ideas. How about making sure each kid has the mini M&M candy tubes filled with quarters/penny so that they can do the pressed penny machines? Those make great souvenirs. Wht about autograph books - at least for the 5 year old?

We have two girls and one boy, 9 yrs old. He liked pretty much everything so not sure you can go wrong. Splash mnt, space mntn, buzz light year, monsters laugh, stitch, haunted mansion , tom sawyer island all hits. Even dumbo and some of the kid rides he liked. Hollywoodstudios has star wars and Jedi training, indianajones, fantasmic and if like the thrills tower of terror and rock n roller coaster. Other parks have similar options. Have fun!
