I just got back from WDW and I bought alot of pins i dont want them to just sit some were and not be enjoied i was wondering what other people did to show of there pins

I'm not a pin collector myself, but I have seen people put their pins onto felt-covered boards and put them into ordinary picture frames for display.

One of my good friends purchased a cork board and displayed his pins on that. It made a great decoration and conversation piece.

Hope that helps! :)

I recently finished decorating a "vintage" Disney bathroom. I wanted to use my favorite pins, so I purchased 1/2 price shadow boxes from Hobby Lobby and displayed them to hang on the walls. I have several and also included some other momentos (matchbooks from CR & Planet Hollywood, my first Disney Dollar, etc..) Everyone who sees them enjoys them and it makes me happy to be able to see them every day. Hobby Lobby & Michaels have the shadow boxes 1/2 price regularly.

My friend puts them on the strap of her purse or backpack. It looks cute there.

I really like the idea of the shadow boxes..I might do that! :goodvibes

I really like the lampshade idea.:thumbsup2 I may do that for another room after my next trip.

I just did my laundry room in Mickey. I attached my two boys pins to their Mickey Mouse ears hats. I then attached the hats to the back of the mirror that hangs over the sink. It looks really cute, like Mickeys face.

We put our DS's on this mesh toy storage thing that hangs from the ceiling that we bought at IKEA for 3 or 4 bucks.

We have ours on lanyards, and the lanyards are mounted in shadow boxes (one lanyard per frame). The background of the shadow box is paper with stylized Mickey ears. We have them hanging in our upstairs hallway.

My girlfriend has hundreds of sets of them. She has most of the displayed in regular picture frames, but the ones she bought at the PPP in Feburary, she mounted in a shadow box with the treat bag, beads that were collected, the special map that they give out that evening.

I frame a lot of mine, too. I framed an enlarged map of DLand and put park specific ones in their locations on the map. For DL's 50th I put together the commemorative puzzle and used that as the background for the matching pins. Pins also look great decorating mats used when framing photos.

My daughter keeps the ones she will trade on future trips on her lanyard. The ones that she will keep get displayed. I bought an artist canvas. I painted mickey ears ( the 3 circles like a hidden mickey) and added some polka dots in different colors. It hangs nicely on the wall and you can punch the pins through easily. There is enough space for the pin backs too. Lots of compliments and was fun and easy. If we want to change the design, we just buy a new canvas and voila. There are great sales at Michaels on canvas too.

Not to hijak the thread, but I've never gotten into pin collecting/trading before. My DD is going to be 6 and I am thinking this is something she might be into. Especially with all the great tips for how to display them when we get home. That had never occurred to me!! Do you need to arrive with pins to trade? Do you just buy them when you get there and then trade with others? Sorry, I am a total novice and hoping you can answer some FAQ's for me or re-direct me elsewhere. Thanks!!

Pin traind is alot of fun but it can get spendy the cheapist pin i found there was $6.95. every gift shop has pins and there is pin traiding stations in every park. if you want to trade them by the cheapests wons. what i wish i would have done was went to ta disney store and found some on clearence to trade. have fun trading

thanks to every one for there ideas

I ended up checking out ebay and won a couple auctions of a few pins. I figured it would give my DD something to trade with or keep if she liked them. The ones I got all say they are authentic Disney and got them pretty cheap ($12 for 10 patriotic themed pins, etc.). I hope she is into it!!

Ebay is definitely the way to go. I got 40 pins for $2 each(14 of which were declared keepers by my DDs), compared to $4.50 at the Disney Store and $6.95 plus at WDW. If you decide to use Ebay make sure your vendors satisfaction rating is high and they have been selling for at least 3 years.
Good luck and happy trading!!:thumbsup2
