I don't want to throw them in the trash, but we've got too many. I've tried to give them to charitable organizations, but I guess they've got too many, too. Is there any other use for them?

All I can think of was the book about Joan Crawford - Mommy Dearest!!! She hated wire hangers!

LOL Gail! I was thinking the same thing:

NO WIRE HANGERS!

Maybe donate them to a group that does crafts. When I did the Girl Guide groups we used to make the braided kinda thing around the coat hanger and put them in craft shows.

send them to me. i need more wire hangers. another idea is nursing homes. never sems we have enough hangers at work

We are always short of hangers. If you don't send them all to Fire14, you can send a few my way. :)

Your local Salvation Army, Goodwill Store, or nursing home..they can always use them!

Last time I needed to get rid of hangers Goodwill told me they don't take them any more. They said that it takes jobs away from people. I wish I would have thought of the cleaners. I just threw them away. It felt funny throwing away something that wasn't broken, but I don't use the wire ones.

I was just telling DH today that I need to go buy some. They seem to evaporate at our house.

"Noooo...wire hangers ....EVER!!"

That's exactly what came to my mind also :p

How the heck do wire hangers take jobs away from people???

Ornamental Apples
Need: Large Red Apples, Wire ornament hangers, Ground Cinnamon, Green and red ribbon, Paper towels, Wire coat hangers

Directions:
1. Cut the apples into slices that are about 3/8" thick.
2. Blot the slices on both sides with the paper towel to absorb as much juice as possible.
3. Sprinkle both sides with cinnamon.
4. Attach the wire ornament hanger to the top of each slice.
5. Hang the slices from the wire coat hangers in front of a sunny window until they dry (about two or three days).
6. Tie a green or red ribbon bow around the base of each hook and hang them from the tree!

Valentine's Day Decorations:
Valentine's Day Crafts
Easy Door Decoration:

You'll need a 24" piece of moldable, but kind of stiff wire (coat hangers work well), about 36" threadable lace (lace that has a seam tape binding, like most eyelet laces) and enough ribbon to make a bow.

Thread the wire through the lace and wrap the wire ends together.
Mold the wire into a heart shape. Add ribbons, bows, or other appropriate decorations.
Variation: Cut 1"-wide red ribbon into 3" lengths. Tie each piece of ribbon around the wire heart, pushing them together until you have the whole wreath covered. Cut an arrow from white poster board and attach through the middle of your heart.

Make a photo tree:
You will need:

2-3 coat hangers
1 large wooden spool
1 small wooden spool
2 1/2" square wooden molding
brown spray paint
gold and silver acrylic craft paint
natural sponge
hot glue gun
wire cutters
needle nose pliers

1. Cut 5 sections from coat hangers -- 10", 11", 12", 13", & 14" long
2. Twist one end of each section using needle nose pliers to make picture holder
3. Spray paint hangers, spools and molding brown
4. Hot glue small spool to large spool -- make sure holes line up as close as possible
5. Glue large spool to wooden molding
6. About 4 inches from straight end of hangers, bend in various angles - Keep in mind you want pictures to be seen; some overlapping may occur.
7. Stick hangers into spools -- position how you want them to be. If hangers move around too much, you can place a small amount of hot glue at top of the base to hold hangers in place.
8. Sponge paint entire holder with gold and silver paint -- allow to dry.
9. Slide pictures into slots & enjoy!

now that ought to keep you busy!! LOL!!!

WOW, ennazus!! Love that topiary idea.....
