What to do with old computer?

We just got a new computer and want to get rid of our old one....its pretty old, and at this point, pretty screwed up too. Not sure what to do with it though? Should we throw it out? Does Salvation Army take it? I've never had to get rid of one before, so I'm not sure what to do. Thanks.

Salvation Army used to take computers - provided that they are in working order - not sure if they are still taking them tho - can't help to call and check.

Your local school district may also need computers.....they usually want them in good working order but you can inquire......schools in many areas are so desperate for funding that used computers go a long way and are appreciated.

My old one is still sitting on the floor right next to my desk. Don't know what to do with it either.

They are VERY hard to get rid of.

At least here, no charitible organizations want them.
No schools want them......if it is too old for you, it is too old for them. Our schools buy new ones or get them donated from Apple or other companies.

The dumps don't want them.........they contain "hazardous" waste.

Occasionally around here, there will be a hazardous waste collection.....and that takes old computers.
I wish they would have one soon....I have a couple to get rid of.
