What to do with free 1 day base tickets

We just returned from a wdw trip. Wdw has given us a 1 day base ticket for everyone in our party due to some issues we had.

My question is how to use this. We live 12 hours away and so when we do go back it will be for 5 or more days. We probably won't be back for 2-3 years. Can we add days on to a ticket like This? Does such a thing expire? They said they would put a "will call ticket order" in MDE now. Does that mean I can't link it to our magic bands or make fp?

There is a chance we will be in Orlando in October for a wedding. Do we make a one day stop then?

Dont get me wrong...i appreciate the gesture! I just don't know how to use it!

I would use it when in town for the wedding.

Just made a clarification to my op. How does a "will call ticket order" on my account work?

I would use it in October as well, if possible. Maybe combine the one day with a night at MNSSHP.

If that doesn't work out and you can't add days to the individual tickets, on your next trip in 2-3 years, one person could use all the one-day tickets and just buy multi-day tickets for everyone else. This would save you the price of one multi-day ticket.

That's not a bad idea at all, except I don't know if i can link the ticket and make fp for the one person. That would really screw things up, lol.

This happened to us once - we were all given one day hoppers in our ME account because of some travel plan craziness (of no fault of WDW - they were just being extra magical!). In our case the tickets would expire in one year. I would check on this, otherwise if you try to use them in 2-3 years they will have long disappeared. If they don't expire, you have the ability to move the tickets, so could put them all under one person's name/account and buy one less ticket on your next trip.

A few years ago we were given tickets like this. They did not have an expiration date on them but they would not be eligible to be upgraded to longer stay tickets. We had to use them as they were issued. Just needed to stop at Guest Services window to get them set up for use when we wanted to use them.

I always thought those would be perfect for one day in the parks before you took a cruise, or to do a WDW day on a trip to primarily visit Universal. If you went during party season, that plus a party ticket would give you a couple of Disney days.

Definitely check on the expiration, though. If they truly expire in a year, then for someone like me, they would be very difficult to use.

So did that mean you couldn't link them to your MB in advance or set up fast passes?

The will-call number is the same number that all tickets use to link to MDE. Linking should not be a problem.

The tickets shouldn’t expired but are not upgradable. Either use them for a one-day trip or assign them all to one person for a whole trip.

We have this exact situation. We were given for one day hopper's about four years ago and my husband passed away this year. I emailed Disney and asked about the hoppers and they put them on my MDE Account and I was able to change the names to each of us and then a second day for one of my daughters and make fast passes at the 60 day mark since we are staying on site. However we are unable to make our new passes hoppers and I would've had to pay extra for the other two days to make them hoppers. I am still not sure if I have to go to guest services when we arrive to activate them as they are supposed to be on our magic bands I guess we'll see when we get there! We are spending Father's Day at the world and I guess we'll see when we get there! We are spending Father's Day at the world in honor of my husband.
