What to do with crutches/cane on rides?

One time when I was using crutches, I asked the CM at Space Mountain, "Is there someplace I can leave my crutches?" when what I really meant was, "Were do I leave my crutches?" Thr CM said, "No, just take them with you and they'll fly out of your sled and be waiting for you at the bottom when you get off." Then he laughed, said he was joking, and took them for me.

On slow boat rides like Pirates of the Caribbean, I would put my crutches on the floor of the boat.

Have you ever asked the CMs to hold them for you at boat rides like Pirates? I could put them on the floor but if we are seated with strangers (and I am pretty sure we will), I wouldn't feel very comfortable doing that.

No, I haven't tried asking at those rides.

Every time I ride POCB I sat by my self or with the person I am with I would just put the Cain by your feet

for about 3 or 4 rides in all of WDW a wheel chair will go through the Exit ( and one of then BTMRR you exit the ride on the other side) the CM moves the MBD to the other side. some rides you can not take churches or a cain on space mountain ( I have seen the person on front of me with churches the CM took them a another CM had them at the exit for her. I would think that they would give you as much time as you needed to get out ( help your daughter)as you needed just as long as you were working on getting out and not doing something else.

I hope this answered your question

and buy the way you can take a wheel chair through the single rider lines if you want to do that.

Don't count on a cast member to help! I was on Small world and the seat was too low for my hip and knee replacements. I could not get up! Not one cast member helped me. Thankfully the man in the seat in back of me offered a hand.

I do not think I said a CM will help you get in or out of a ride. from what I have been told if a CM thinks they can they can give you there are like hold out they seem for you. But that is up to the CM I really think if the CM is a 5 foot 120 pounds then they do not have to do this to someone that is 6 foot 250 pounds. At some rides space mountain is one they will push you in a wheel chair to and from the ride if you are alone or with someow that can not you may have to wait longer for some one to come

I believe that CMs are not allowed to physically help a guest to transfer on or off rides. They can assist with your equipment like wheelchairs or crutches, but they are not supposed to touch a guest.
It's understandable. They are not trained in transfer or lifting and if they were to injure a guest while trying to help (or injure themselves) it would be a big problem. That's why Disney suggests that guests who need assistance ride with friend or family member who knows how to help.

I think this is why they are only allowed to give there arm ( the best way I can explain it is they can hold there arm out for you to hold) and this is up to the CM whether or not they want to do this ( I was getting into space mountain with a hurt foot and a CM came up to me and did this I said I did not think you could do this, she replied we can give a guest out arm if we feel it will help and we feel we can help) but as far as lifting and transferring no they can not go this.

Besides one kindly CM who took pity on me and the Haunted Mansion and led me through the darkest areas where I couldn't see to get to the boarding area comma I've never had a CM assist me. But, everything my family and other guests always did. I mean, you can't completely rely on the kindness of strangers, but I've never been let down.

i think my comment was not very clear.....all I needed was a hand or "arm" so I could get up. I did not need a transfer or someone lifting me up. CM was a young man

I think to you it seems simple, but picture all the sue happy folk looking for a payout from a wealthy company.

A CM gives just a hand to help you up, loses their balance, and kind of plops you back down... Just enough for someone to claim an injury.

I really can't blame them for not doing anything physically towards a guest.

I have family that works at WDW and they are told very EXPLICITLY about helping guests when it comes to loading/unloading at attractions. Breaking those rules can be an automatic termination. Sorry, but if I was one of them, I would not risk my job if I was told I was not to do something even if a guest thought it was rude.
A guest falls, CMs absolutely are NOT to touch them or help them up. They are to call medical. Medical can touch them and help them up. Guests think it's horrible that cast are so stand offish when someone falls but it becomes a huge liability issue. Disney's rules. I don't blame them one bit.
