I have one DD that does get sea sick car sick ride sick you name it!...not sure how well she will do & that is one concern I have about cruising...any ideas for that??
TIA!! (my DS wanted this one!!)

Howdy,
You have a lot to plan, I hope I can help some.
Seasick??
Ok there are several things you can do for that. One is to use Dramamine or Bonine( over the counter). Make sure you buy the non drowsy type or your child will want to sleep through the trip. They do come in chewable tablets which is great for kids. Dr. can also prescribe a wrist band that works for sea sickness pretty good too. But I think it will make the person kind of drowsy. OI have rad on this dis board, but never tried myself that ginger pills work great for sea sickness too, with no side effects. What ever you use, you MUST start taking the day before you get on the ship. If you wait until you feel queasy, they dont work too well, you usually have to lay down and sleep for awhile till they take effect.
One thing to help is to try and get a room in the middle of the ship and as low a deck as possible. Decks 2 and 3 do not move as much as deck 5 and above. The center of the ship is also the calmest place to be. If someone becomes queasy go to the atrium part of the ship and sit or go on deck 4 for fresh air as it is the calmest part of the ship. I think the worst places to be if they are getting queasy is the walt disney theater and the movie theater. They really move sometimes. It is important to keep food on your stomach too, this will help you to not get as queasy. I dont know why, but it does help. Worst case senario, some ships( I dont know about DCL) the Dr. can give a anti histimine shot that does work. But it costs about $125.00. It odes last for several days. Again, this is something I have seen on the travel network, but never experienced for myself, but would be worth checking out if someone was ill and the other stuff didnt work.
Your kids under 18 will have theri own navigator (newspaper) that iwll list all the kids events on board . They will get a new one each day with new things to do. You must sign them up the first day at the kids club ( time and place will be listed on your navigator, found in your room). Even if they are not sure if they want to go to the kids area, please sign them up the first day or they willnot get to attend. They will be given a bracelet to ID themselves and you will be given a beeper so they can contact you at any time if needed. If your child is insecure or shy you may sign in and stay with them for awhile till they adjust to the club and couselors. Ages 13 to 17 have their own club, no adults allowed! Kids love that rule. They have a different place and time to sign in. 18 and older can enjoy all the adult clubs and the family nightclub (studio sea), they just cant drink alcohol.
I guarantee there will be so much for everyone to do that no one will be bored and if you want a little quiet time for yourself they will be well looked after and kept busy all day and night if you choose. They can even eat with the kids if they or you want them too. Although we always had dinner together to catch up on everything we had experienced during the day.
Teens have their own excursions too which are great for them if they are at the age when hanging with the parents isnt cool any more. They are well supervised at all times. For family times together there is plenty every afternoon and night in Studio Sea. Stuff for all ages to do together.
Hope this helps some, if you have any specific questions, just ask. I'll try and answer if I can . If not someone else will be able to help I'm sure. We have done 7 DCL cruises so far with ages of 18 months to 50 years old, so we have experienced things from all areas of the ship.

18 of us, four generations, and seven kids aged six and under!

We had a fabulous time, as previously mentioned, there is plenty to do for all ages - AND lots to "split up" and do and meet up later.

My 84 year old grandma enjoyed the galley tour, while the kids went to kids club, and I went to the spa - most of our days were like that - everyone going different directions then meeting up for meals or shows or group activity.

Having a big group on the ship made it even more fun - I would certainly do it again.

one thing to consider is that right now you, dh, and 6 kids can fit into 2 rooms...if a boyfriend comes you will need 3 rooms unless one room is a cat 4. Just something to consider...you do not have to get rooms side by side..you could get an outside room for you and an inside room for some of the kids across the hall.....lots of people do this!
