What to do with a heart shaped vase

Hello,
I am co-chairing a Holiday Boutique for Christmas 2007. The school had used for the past two years a company that provided gift items. My friend and I decided that we could provide better quality items by purchasing things on sales and clearances and from dollar stores. This boutique is for elementary school children, grades K-5 to purchase low cost items for family members. We found a great deal on these heart shaped clear glass vases from Anchor Hocking Co. They are 5 inches tall, about 3 1/2 inches wide and almost 2 1/2 inches deep. There is an opening at the top which is about 3/4 of an inch. We are looking for ideas to jazz them up a bit. We've tried epsom salts with fragrance, but each actually holds a pound of salt. We got such a fantastic deal on the vases we don't want to break the bank with what we fill them with, or decorate with. Any ideas?????

Also looking for any low cost, easy to assemble craft ideas that we moms can do at craft nights (which may include not so crafty but willing to help moms). We want to offer items that would appeal to the kids who are purchasing the gifts, but that we as moms, dad, grandparents, etc. would appreciate receiving.

TIA. Any help would be appreciated.:thumbsup2

Wth Easter coming, you can probably get multi-colored cellophane Easter grass to put at the bottom of each vase to take up space.

I'd also get a couple of small cellophane bags which you can use to fill a small amount of the epsom salts and a couple of other bags of goodies. Twist tie the bags, leave the tops all fluffy, and sticking out of the top of the vase for decoration.

You can get the bags in the cake/candy decorating department of a crafts store, if they don't have some at the dollar store. Alternately, Reynolds Wraps makes colorful cellophane wrap. You can simply place the salt in the center & gather up all the ends & tie up. :)

If the heart vases are clear, fill them with bulk candy like red hots or m&Ms, or jelly beans

Possibly using baby oil for bath or olive oil for cooking and a cork with fragrance or herbs. You can probably buy this stuff in bulk fo could do quite a few. Another idea would be possibly pancake mix, dried beans or layered cookies.

Hope it all comes out well.

What about red glass marbles (not sure if that's what they're called)? You can find them in the dollar store.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think the biggest obstacle for us it that there is only a 3/4" opening to fit the contents inside. Please keep the ideas coming. I like hearing a new perspective.

Another dilemma: We purchased gel eye masks and would like to include a few items with it. What says "relaxation" to you? We were thinking a piece of chocolate and maybe some tea bags or a fuzzy pair of socks. The "Take 5" chocolate bar was a thought too.

Tea bags.:)

I like the tea bags and chocolate but what about just a single piece of dove chocolate rather than a take 5. Seems more elegant to me.

Prima flowers for scrappers? Wonder what made me think of that:rolleyes1

I just googled Prima flowers and what comes up but those flowers in a heart shaped jar. I guess you knew that :) It does look pretty. I wonder if I could get the same affect by buying a flower punch and mixing different shades of paper. We did get (for free) 3 containers of silk flowers that look very similar to the Prima flowers.

Any other ideas???? I appreciate the help.

Poupourri maybe.

Those tiny little notes with inspirations on them. You could write them out of thin sheets of colored paper. Kinda like a fortune cookie.

Seashells

Kitchen herbs (would need some kind of stopper though)
