I have been a Disney lover since I was a kid. My dad took us there pretty much every year. I still have tickets left from when you needed them for the rides. My problem is my dh. He's going and will have an okay time, but could care lesf if he's there or not. What do I do with him to make him have more fun?

He's also having shoulder surgery (torn rotater cuff) two weeks before we go. Possible that he'll be able to go on rides?!?

Thanks in advance!!

I have learned travelling with my DH that things he really enjoys doing has to be put on the itinerary. For instance, at Disney one year in March there was spring training and he went to the game. This made him VERY happy. He always goes to the ESPN Club on the Boardwalk, usually several nights, mostly without us. One year ESPN was shooting a program at the restaurant and Peter Gammons was there. My DH got to meet him and it was a thrill for him. He blew up the photo of himself and Gammons and hung it up at work!

While in San Diego last summer, DH went to two Padres games, once by himself and once with DS4. If I don't plan something special for him to do, the vacation will not be pleasant. Not sure if I'd want DH to read that, but it's the simple truth.

I figured this out during our first trip to Disney, he was grumpy and acting like he wasn't enjoying himself. By having these special, i.e. sports related, events for him, DH was happy. That means me and the kids were happy!

I'm using the same tips as the previous poster- but in a different way. My hubby is not all that interested in sports though- but FW is right up his alley (fishing, camping, boating- that sort of thing). Well, we can't go to FW on our next trip -atleast we can't CAMP there- because they have no availabilities as of yet for the time we're going. So the next trip we'll just spend a lot of time at FW doing things there- and hopefully our next trip after that will be camping at FW and then he'll REALLY enjoy himself at WDW. Heck I'll probably leave him there to do his "thing" while me and the kids enjoy WDW. :)

My husband isn't too keen on MK but he loves DQ and eating around the worlds in Epcot. I hear some people do drinking around the worlds. This might be fun too. This trip we are renting the mouse boats and he can't wait to try this. Maybe even do Mini-golf. We usually are so busy trying to do the parks from opening to close, we decided to chill this time and really enjoy everything else.

Here's my situation & how I handle it:

DH loves to take me & out 3 DD's to WDW, but he doesn't enjoy doing the parks as much as we do. Honestly, I could pretty much skip the parks (well almost) but I love to go with our girls. I tell him the night before what the girls want to do the next day & 98% of the time he joins us (which to me means he enjoys it also). There has been an occasion when he has decided to stay at the pool or go golfing, which he loves.

In the evenings when our girls want to go back to the parks he sometimes opts out. Well, on this last trip we stayed at the Contemporary so we were back at MK many evenings. One evening he came with us but then decided to walk back. Well a few minutes later I saw him walking up to us in a line. When I asked him what happened he said "well, I just decided to hang with you guys instead because no one would be back at the room". Then on another evening he stayed back at the room & when I got back he said "I almost came & met you guys because I was bored here".

Even though we kid him about it we always make sure that we get to ESPN together or that he goes there & I take the girls to EPCOT for a while. We all love the Boardwalk area so we make sure we do that a few times each trip.

My point is that I think as long as you do some things that you know he'll enjoy or give him the opportunity to opt out of things that he may not want to do "again" that he should be okay. Also, we usually travel with other family members so it's not like he's alone. On many occasions someone joins him at ESPN, the pool or golfing if they want to.
