What to do with a 3-hour layover at O'Hare??

We will have just over 3 hours at O'Hare in Chicago, on our way to Orlando. I am not familiar with this airport, and I know it's huge, so just getting to our next gate will eat up some time. I am just wondering what else there is to do in the way of shops and restaurants...

I'm curious where you are connecting from that would require a 3+ hour layover at O'Hare. That seems quite long to me.

They have all the information for the airport with restaurants, things to do, and maps for the terminals.

There are many excellent shops and some fantastic restaurants at O'Hare ( see http://www.chicagoairports.com/OHare/passenger_services/service_food.shtm)

There are many cultural exhibits including a children's museum which is interactive and focuses on the airport (up to age 12). There is a health club at the Hilton next door where you could do a workout for $9.

TravelSheryl: We are connecting from SJC (San Jose, Ca.). It arrives at O'Hare at 4:57 AM and departs for MCO at 8:00 AM.

That IS quite a long layover, but O'Hare is a good airport for a long layover.

If it were me, I'd check with the airline before leaving San Jose if there are any earlier flights from Chicago to Orlando with openings and try to go standby. If not, then go for a nice relaxing breakfast.

I forgot. You're the one who likes those redeyes That will probably limit your choices of things to do as well, as I would presume not everything is open between 5:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.

Actually, I hate redeyes, but I love paying 660 bucks round trip for ALL 4 OF US!! Couldn't pass up that fare. I'll put up with the layovers and the late flights for that kinda price...

BeanoC, with that kind of flexibility, you may want to consider Priceline next time. Most people's fear is late night flights and/or long layovers. Since that's acceptable to you for the right price, you may want to give them a try, and by the way, Priceline guarantees a maximum layover of 3 hrs. on a domestic routing, so this itinerary would not come up on Priceline.
