What To Do With A 1000+ Pictures, Make A Book

Your book came out great. I love doing these books. I have never used that company but have done Kodak, Shutterfly and Mixbooks and love theses.

I am also interested in how you got some of the Disney backgrounds. I know some of them are your actual pictures but I love the Disney cruise and Mickey head backgrounds. We are doing one of the Disney cruises out of NYC in 2012 so I will definately do one of these books when we return.

I used to do scrapbooking and these are some much easier, quicker and once completed do not take up as much room.

Thanks you for sharing your cruise and your wonderful book with us.

Linda

Thanks so much for sharing. How long was your cruise? I had been wondering exactly what the Golden Mickey characters were. When you got the Shutters CD, was the Cpatian hook and Tink, etc... photoshopped onto those images on your disc? I soooo have to get the Shutters disc. Very nice.

Yes the photos do have Tink and Hook already on them. The only thing that you have to be aware of is that some photos you have to crop to make it look just right. The photos you see on the boat are already cropped from what they took. The cd has the original shots.

What a wonder book & beautiful family. We love making books from our vacations. I love your cabin doors they looked fantastic. Did you make the magnets yourself?

Yes, I created the backgrounds. I took the logo, copy and pasted like crazy to get the bbackground and saved as a jpeg. I wold be more than happy to share with everybody.
Also thanks for your kind words. This was my very first attempt at a photobook. I had no idea what I was doing at first. Picaboo software got me started, then I created as I started gettiing the hang of it. I probably spent about eight hours on it. If I did it again, I probably would be quicker since now I know what I am doing. The Picaboo software really helped a newbie and easy to do. Looking back at the book, I probably would tweak a couple of things, but overall I am very pleased with it. The one page I think really helps make the book is the very last one. After creating my book, I looked at all my other pictures not used, and wondered what to do with them as I wanted to use them, but unable to create a themed page. Then the thought of a collage popped in my head and just started adding a bunch of photos on it. I probably would of done at least one more page of collages. Oh well. I wil upload photos of the book after I receive it.

Hello again. What companies have people used in the UK, I have done one with ASDA but did not get as much control over the lay out and backgrounds.

Thanks

We have had great luck with Shutterfly and MyPublisher for making trip souvenir books. Once you get on on MyPublisher's list, about once every six weeks or so they do an offer for a large hardcover book for $35 including 100 extra pages. This REALLY lets you add lots of photos. I love their travel background, as you can type cool captions on "boarding passes" and "postcards." Shutterfly has fewer background options. I haven't seen any with Disney backgrounds, but I'm sure there is licensing stuff all over that. I'm kind of surprised Disney hasn't yet marketed its own brand of make it yourself photobooks (and just charge 5 times more than everyone else is). :-)

I will try Picabo, too. I have gotten Groupons for Shutterfly but they tend to send lots of email offers. One interesting thing about myPublisher is that you download their software and build the whole book on your desktop offline...you only upload your photos and connect when you are done and ready to order. That prevents some of the lag time when desiging when elements are online.

We're really hooked on using these books, so I've started making the process faster (since made of the myPublisher deals are only good for 4 or 5 days) by grouping pictures I want to use in a photo book in folders on my desktop or on our portable storage drive. It's the sorting through photos that tends to take me the longest, but once that's done, making the book is mostly fun!

Just remembered....MyPublisher also has a direct link on your album page to post your whole album to Facebook. Pretty cool.
