We arrive may 7th, and have our first dinner scheduled at Flying Fish...We LOVE FF, but go there EVERY trip.

So, I was thinking of giving San angel a try.......But I'm afraid to deviate from what we deem as tried and true! :confused3:rotfl2: Ah, decisions, decisions.

San Angel is awful, IMO. With all the dining options in Disney, I wouldn't bother with it. And I would deffinately not cancel FF for it. Thats just insanity.

Our family - on the other hand - really enjoys San Angel. The whole notion of being in an intimate plaza at dusk(no matter what time of day it is)... Perhaps sitting along the Rio del Tiempo... Looking up at the pyramid... Disney magic at its best. And its been a year or two since our last visit, but I still remember the CM who served us our meal last time out. He shared with us about his town back home, and how he and several other friends were planning on seeing some of the other states before returning to Mexico when his hitch at Epcot was through.

But the real reason to go is the food. We've always been very happy with the flavors and varieties of food from the appetizers straight through to desert. I, personally, don't care for seafood. So its not too likely I would choose Flying Fish. That - as they say - is why there is chocolate and vanilla. Best of luck on your decision !

Sorry I disagree with PP.

We loved San Angel Inn. THe food is very good and the atmosphere can't be beat. It is so relaxing and romantic, just like sitting along a river in Mexico.

But back to your question.

If you love FF why are you wanting to change? If you are eager or wanting something new I would do the traditional thing then somewhere in the trip do the new....just in case you don't like it.

Be prepared though if you go to SAI, it is not tex mex food, it is more traditional dishes.

I have eaten at both and, while I love the atmosphere at San Angel, I think the food at Flying Fish is far superior to the San Angel Inn. I don't think I would cancel FF for San Angel, but maybe you can fit San Angel in somewhere else.

The atmosphere is great at San Angel, but I would never eat there over FF!

Thank you for all of your input. We will stick with FF, and save San Angel for lunch maybe next trip. :cool1:

I will say the FF is a very good restaurant and is not even a fair comparison to San Angel Inn. I also would choose FF.

With that said, I also disagree with the pp who hated SAI. I love this place; the atmosphere is excellent, and I enjoy the food. I think so many go there expecting it to be like their local Tex/Mex restaurant offering burritos, tacos, and chimichangas that can be ordered off a $7 combo plate. SAI is not that place. I have been to SAI twice and will make a third time my next visit.

Why change? San Angel Inn doesn't even compare to Flying Fish. You're talking about a high-end signature restaurant with relatively standard theme park Mexican food.

San Angel isn't necessarily a bad option. It has some nice menu items, and the atmosphere is stellar. But I would be surprised if you would leave as satisfied as you would after a meal at Flying Fish.
