We have a trip coming up in Dec. and wondering if we should cancel. I will need to cancel by Nov 8 to be prior to 31 days. Here is the problem: We just put our house on the market. We have had a offer but turned it down. Our fear is what if someone offers to purchase and need to move during the holidays. We have the money put back (for vacation) but work has been kind of slow too. My other problems are I do not want to be cleaning house every time the house is shown while my oldest is out for Christmas vacation. We want to enjoy family time. Also if we are home my family always shows up at my house at Christmas....and I am sick of it (I am always left cooking and cleaning up after everyone). However on my husbands side we would not say we are going cause they would think we are crazy. Which they do not get the disney thing. I am truly stressed here lately :scared1: and would love a vacation (not had one since 2008 when I was 3 month pregnant). Also if we do cancel I have DVC points that will expire at the end of May. Not sure if we could get time for another trip with the oldest school schedule.

I know from personal experience 6 weeks ago that DVC is totally sold out in dec and even January is rare and pretty much just cancellations.

So you might want to offer up he reservation for sale. ESP if your use year is may. Use t to help pay for your dues, don't lose your points.

We were able to get dates on feb but even them we had to work with he cancellation deptartment. 6 weeks ago there were literally NO rooms open at all Orlando dvc destinations. Not even one night.

Can't do that on the DIS until the reservation is 30 days out.

I would keep the reservation and take the vacation. It sounds like you need it. When you sell your house, the "move in" date is always negotiable. You could delay moving out to enjoy a vacation.

Thanks Rob. S - this is what we are thinking. The realtor said someone else was interested in the house (not seen an offer from them yet) and wanted to know if we could be out in 2 weeks. I thought are you kidding me. My feeling is that showing activity will be higher in the holiday time due to people being off work. It is such a inconvience for last minute showings when you have a 8 year old and 1 year old to just pick up the house and leave.

At least if you are on vacation, you can straighten up the house and then it will be ready for showings while your gone. I say you go. You do sound like you need a vacation. And the whole thing about needing to be out of your house in 2 weeks with that offer sounds crazy. I'm sure you could work something out.

thanks - everyone. I think we will keep the ressie and just clean up the house where it is ready for the realtor. Also this trip was going to be part of our 15 wedding anniversary trip too.

Another vote for, "Keep the vacation." Should an offer come in with short-escrow requirements, the answer might be, "Sure, anything is possible for the right price!" (Can any escrow really move that quickly? All cash, I assume ... with little to no time for inspections?)

I am thinking it will most likely be next year before we get moved (who knows what the market is going to do):confused3. Called member sevice today and cancelled 3 days off the end of the trip and added one day at the begin because we think we'll arrive around 4pm that day. We are driving. Since those points were from the 2010 use year I was able to bank those remaining points from the cancelled 3 days. Was really surprised I was able to add at day at the begining of our trip.:woohoo: We did not change the day we are leaving home but will come home 3 days earlier. I think everything will work out.
