What to do, SSR points, etc?

The missus and I are thinking about buying more points.

We already have 325 at BWV that we purchased in 2000 (December use year) and we seem to use them up pretty easily.

I guess the SSR $79 a point offer is tempting us but we're not sure if this is better than buying points on a resale.

Also how tied are we to SSR? We love the BW and its proximity to Epcot but are unsure if we'd love SSR.

Thoughts?

Most people on these boards usually seem to agree "buy where you are most likely to stay." I personally have never had a problem trading at the 7 month window for another resort, but as more and more points are sold at SSR, I'm sure that it will be harder to reserve the resort that you want at that point. So, if you are hesitant over the location, I would go with a resale and if you like the location, then go for SSR with the extra years.

I think the advice to "buy where you want to stay" still applies. As you know, BWV can be tough to reserve without the 11 month window. A resale for BWV would make sense if you really want to stay mostly at BWV. Also, it's certainly easier to keep track of your points if they are all at the same resort and have the same use year. However, there are many members who have no trouble at all with the extra "book keeping" required for owning at more than one resort or having more than one use year.

Before you decide, why not use your BWV points to stay a few days at SSR and see what you think? It's usually fairly easy to get into a new resort at the 7 month window, so I wouldn't think you would have a hard time making a reservation in the near future. After your stay, you should be able to tell if you would enjoy staying at SSR on a regular basis (assuming that if SSR isn't your first choice for a particular visit that you would be OK staying there if your first choice didn't work out).

The good news is that you are going to get more points! Congratulations!
