What to do post-cruise ???

We will be coming off a 7 day cruise (E. Carrib) and will have disembarkation day plus one other day to do things in Orlando. We will have already done Kennedy before our cruise.

So, do I cram in 2 days of WDW or relax, do Disney Springs and just hang around the pool (or whatever?) on day 1 and do EPCOT or MK on day 2. We will be staying in a WDW hotel that one night, but we're heading over to the Hyatt for the second night, as we have an early morning flight.

We could also check out Cirque de Soleil or Blue Man Group on that first day, I suppose. Will I be rested up, sick of shows and raring to go that first day or wanting to keep the vibe, getting back into (WDW) reality slowly?

It's DH, DS14, DS12 and myself that will be travelling, so no little ones to entertain.

I find that when I return from a 7 night cruise that I need to relax a bit before I tackle theme parks. :) I would suggest hanging out at your resort pool in the morning after you get there and into the afternoon. Depending on when you are traveling, it will be pretty hot out there until about 5 PM. lol
I would also suggest Cirque De Soleil and a stroll around Disney Springs that evening after you have rested by the pool.

For your second day before you head over to the Hyatt, I would go to EPCOT and enjoy a leisurely walk around the world showcase and throw in a couple of attractions that the boys might like. Test Track is a winner for my teens (DD14 and DS13 ) but then Soarin has reopened and it is incredible. So, maybe rope drop at EPCOT and go to either one of those attractions first and get a FP for the other. I am not sure if you would have an interest in the new Frozen attraction in Norway (my kids are NOT at all interested) but that would be something to throw into the mix too.
When you head over to the Hyatt, they have a nice pool and that would be how I end my vacation...a nice swim in the evening to relax and then get ready for travel the next day.

Just some thoughts! Enjoy your cruise!

Test Track is definitely on my boys' radar. Actually, I can see them racing at RD for that, then asking for the FPP for it, as well, lol.

I am struggling with which resort to choose, having always been off site. I'm looking at Coronado, AKL, Beach Club, Boardwalk or Caribbean Beach. I know they are vastly different inside the rooms, as some are moderate and others deluxe. Which has the nicest pool area and other amenities for teens? It's only one night, so I want to be sure I'd use deluxe amenities, if I was paying a deluxe price. We're driving, so buses aren't an issue.

With the somewhat limited time you have on that second day, I'd suggest Boardwalk. It's really the most convenient to EPCOT, if you're going there (with it's own park entrance). They have a nice (guess what?) boardwalk area with lots to see and do. And you can ride the boats there (without actually going into EPCOT).

Hmm. Being next to EPCOT is a pro for sure. Would we be able to check out that morning and still leave our car there for the day, or do we have to move it to the main parking lot? I assume check out is at 10 or 11 and we'd be in the park until late afternoon at least, I expect.

I am betting after a cruise I am on that I will be hoping my Powerball numbers finally came in so I can just get back on the ship and go back.

we still love to go over to wdw but take it easy and usually sit by the pool and do a night in a park

So that's another vote for relax the day we get off the boat. I'm inclined that way, just worried we'll have relaxed so much that we'll want a change from pools and sunshine.

I actually have friends that did this. While on board they booked the next cruise. They drove so didn't have to worry about flights, though I don't think they won powerball.

Best pool is hands down Beach Club. Boardwalk has fun things to do, but you can walk to them from the Beach Club. So if you wanted to rent a bike or go to play the midway games, you could easily do that. We are staying at AKL for two days and not going into the parks, but I have younger kids and watching animals, making crafts, plus 2 different pools is enough to keep them entertained.

Oh, and you should totally make an afternoon snack reservation at Beaches and Cream to split the Kitchen Sink.

Beach club pool/Stormalong Bay is perfect. Especially if you spend your first day back at the pool. :)
And walking over to EPCOT is a breeze from Beach Club. We do this a lot when we stay at Yacht Club...and my two LOVE the pool. A lot of great things to do on the Boardwalk too.

Yeah, the AKL animal thing sounds really cool, but maybe it's for animal lovers and little ones more than teens.

Kitchen Sink, huh? Will we have room left after a week of cruise food and, yes, unadvertised Mickey Bars. ;)

I have heard that about the Beach Club pool. It's a lot better than other resort pools then?

heh, I asked the kids about Universal, but while they love the Disney rollercoaster rides, they have no desire to do 'serious' Universal coasters. They've watched enough (too much?) youtube to know what's in store.

Yes, Yacht and Beach club have the best pool (it is really like a mini waterpark with a slide, small lazy river and a deep part of the water with a sand bottom. :)
It is our favorite resort (Yacht club) but Beach club is closer to the back gate entrance of the World Showcase at EPCOT.

The "Kitchen Sink" is really big and you might enjoy it. My 13 year old son likes the "No way Jose" ( it is uncommonly large for an ice cream sundae)

Our recent cruise was a 4 nighter and we stayed at the Yacht Club for a few nights after. I had a reservation for Beaches and Cream (home of the Kitchen Sink) but cancelled it because we were staying club level (they have desserts at night and other munchies) AND because we just came off a cruise with the large amounts of food and desserts (and yes, Mickey Bars for my son and husband)
I really wished I kept it though.

They have a tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich that is my go to. :)

I would recommend relaxation over the stress of theme park, at least since this is post cruise and you only have a couple of days total. Everyone has their preference, but I prefer to avoid the lines of a theme park after a cruise. A pool, beach, waterpark, dinner, show, shopping or spa, or other similar types of activities can put a nice end to your vacation. Of course your boys may have other plans. :)
