We arrive at 9:55 am.. by the time we get there from picking up our car and doing a grocery stop, and checking in it will be late so we will not be going to the parks the first day.. I am looking for something to do in the afternoon and evening, I think we will take a monorail ride, and just putter around, I am leaning towards going to the Chip & Dale Campfire if the kids are not to tired from getting up at 4:30 am to get to our flight, but I am looking for something else to do.. is there a place to see fireworks or what do you experts think is great to do?
THANKS!

We always head to DD. Kids love the lego store to build stuff then the Toy store to build a MR Potatoe head. Me- I shop. We always pick out our Disney t-shirts so we have them for MK.

If it's fireworks you want though I would get on the mono rail to the Poly- check out the resort then sit on the beach to watch the fire works.

Or Even hit the Boardwalk!

They have a little arcarde area, shops, restaraunts and you can stand on the bridge and watch Epcot Fireworks!

Or do both, do DTD and then the Boardwalk!

Scratch

You can hang out at DTD and then do the campfire. Or you can check out the other resorts. Maybe the weather will be really warm and you can use the pool when you arrive!

Your first day sounds like ours! We toy every trip with the idea of saving a day and staying out of the parks but we just can't do it! Our flight also arrives at 10am, without rushing we find ourselves at MK between noon and 1:00pm, we take our time and walk down main street, have lunch. What at first seemed to be 'wasting' a day has turned into a nice tradition.

We have started the tradition of doing a character meal at one of the resorts on our first evening. We plan it so it is not too late so we can get to bed early after a long travel day. The next morning we are up early and raring to go. We often also hit DD to buy whatever it is my husband forgot to bring. :D
(one year a bathing suit, another time a sun hat).

We enjoy going to DTD on the first day and eating at the Rain Forest Cafe. It puts us right into disney vacation mode. If the weather is really nice we like to take a swim first at the resort.

We will be staying at the Poly and I had read over at the Resorts board that some people start off their stay by doing the dinner/show at the Hoop Dee Doo Revue. It's expensive but I thought we'd give it a try. As first timers, between our arrival and the dinner, we are planning on just exploring the Poly resort and riding the monorail.

We always get a early flight too. It must be something about flying out of Canada. We have in the past gone straight into the parks, but feel really tired and are excited to be there.. but really its not the best. We hope for a early check in but always have a back up. This year we figure by the time we land ( 9:25 they say) get our luggage and get a ride to ASM its going to be 11:30ish. So if we dont get our room we are going to go eat, then head to play Minigolf at Blizzard Beach and perhaps head to DTD. Just relax and take it easy, have a good nights sleep and go full steam ahead the next day.

Only 20 days to go!!!!!!!
