Hey everyone! I'll bet y'all all know about my Halloween trip in a week. Yeah, so I wanted to know something. If you are grossed out, dont read the next paragraph, but skip to my questions to help me.

I get carsick. Badly. Luckily, this DOES NOT stop me from going on WDW rollercoaster rides, for a crazy reason, but long car rides get me. Of course, I live 115 miles away and have to deal with a 2.5-3 hour ride Home. I always feel hot, even in the winter. Then, I deal with horrible dizziness. My stomach churns in circles and I feel tired. Sometimes I get a buildup of puke, spit and mucus (in my throat :P) that i immediately cough into a napkin and hide. My parents just found out a few months ago and think I'm sick. But Ive told them I only have this problem on long rides, I love Disney so much, but the ride is so terrible for me! I even try crackers and ice cream, but that only works for a little bit of time.

Anyway, all of you: Do you have carsickness? How do you fight it? Any ideas?

PS I try sleeping because then I can conserver energy for WDW.

PSS. I cant sit in the front. My mom wont let me. I am only 4'11 and weigh 96 pounds. So LOL, thats out of the question.

Have you tried Dramamine (or the store brand)? It's a carsickness medicine that I've taken for years (I get sick after more than half an hour in the backseat, or one or two hours in the front.) You can get it in any drugstore. I'd get the non-drowsy or even the child's chewables with how small you are. They taste gross but I'm completely fine on long rides when I take them as directed. Even the non-drowsy will help you sleep! Just make sure you take it about 20-30 minutes BEFORE you get in the car or you might start to get sick before it kicks in all the way.

The packages look like this:

Oh my gosh, I get the same thing!!!

This most likely happens to you because you are focusing your eyes on a moving point while in the bumpy car. DO NOT READ IN THE CAR! If you read, you are focusing your eyes on what are supposed to be fixed points. The car bumping along makes your eyes get unfocused, and need to re-focus over and over again. This will make you sick! Also, if you feel sick, look out the window, and focus on the sky. The sky is so huge, your eyes can focus on it and be fine! Focusing on grass or trees whizzing past will do the same thing the books will do. Just focus an a large spot, or directly on the seat in front of you. You may also want to stick your fingers out of the window, or feel wind on your face. Sometimes that can make it better. These things always help me, so I hope they work for you too!

PS: Eat some crunchy foods like chips, or cereal, as it will cut through the junk in your throat, and make you feel better. Oh, and maybe lay in the car on your left side, curled in a ball. It presses on your intestines, and can make it feel better too.

There actually is a natural product that won't make you feel yukky like the motion sickness drugs can. Get some Ginger tablets!!!! I get horribly car, sea, and motion sickness and cruised last year....Took the tablets and I had no problems until the last night and I forgot to re take them in the afternoon...I go sooooooo green! Took them again and in 30 min. I was right as rain!!!!! Have a great time!!!

I've tried Dramamine before and did not like it at all. My mom and I used to take it for cruises and while it did help somewhat, it didn't take the nausea away completely and it was like we couldn't get enough to drink.

We use a medicine called Bonine now (Cheap and over-the-counter at Wal-Mart) and it's worked wonders for us.

The taste isn't too bad and we've had complete relief in 15 minutes of taking it. But you can also take it beforehand for 24 hours relief.
