This is somewhere I always blow right by and never explore, tell me some hidden Main Street gems!

Blow right by Main Street??!! I've never heard such nonsense! lol! I look forward to Main Street as much as my kids look forward to Space Mountain. I love just looking in the candy store (can't remember the name) at the start of Main Street to see all the different ways they can use Mickey's head in candy and the "candy monorail" going along the top of the store. But my favorite store is Arrabas Bros. Any place selling jewelry will always be at the top of my list. I get a new watch every trip!

There is an AWESOME place where you can take tons of silly pictures, you just have to find it.

In the first shop on your right hand side (i think they sell stuff for cameras) in the back of that store there is a section that have a bunch of fun sets that you can take pictures in. There's also a place to sit and watch old Disney cartoons. (It's air conditioned, so that's a bonus)

Every time I've been there it's been completely deserted!

Sometimes there are characters there too! We saw Goofy once!
And there always seems to be a lonely photopass guy/girl just waiting to take peoples photo!

here's an example of the sets they have there

(maybe if anyone else has found it, they could help explain it better, ebcause I know I did a terrible job!)

AS you're walking down Main Street, the candy shop is on the right. If you get there early in the morning right after park opening, you may be able to make your own Mickey rice krispie treat. My kids got to do this in July. It was messy, yummy fun! They bring out a "blank" treat and you get to decorate with melted chocolate and Mickey candies.

There is a great collectible store with watches, picture frames and jewelry also on the right.

You can stop in the Main Street Bake Shoppe and get a muffin, french toast log (OMG these are FABULOUS!) or other sweet treat.

There's the ice cream shop on the end of the street (across from Casey's). I like to end my day with a mint chocolate chip cone and walk down Main Street.

On the left side of Main Street is the Emporium. Basically you have a lot of souvenirs, photo albums, magnets, key chains, shirts, mugs, scrapbooking stuff, light up toys, plush toys, and more. There's a Princess merchandise room, a sports themed merchandise room - all shops on this side lead to Casey's.

Hope this helps.

Oh, you can also have the silouettes made on the right side of Main Street in a little shaded alcove. We did this last summer of our kids and we'll probably do it every 5 years to see how they change.

Love to shop on Main Street and the window displays are always cool.Plus we love to stop at Caseys for a great hot dog and people watch.:goodvibes :goodvibes Danny

my husband proposed in the MK but he didnt have a ring ( Im fussy and he thot i would want to pick my own) so we went into Arrabas and picked a Mickey head ring cos i wanted something to remind me of the moment ( i think it was $20 )The CM saw us and asked why i was sooo excited.when i explained she made my Husband get down on one knee in th middle of the store and ask again but this time with my ring.A big crowd gathered and gave a big cheer....it was sooooo cool !!

Harmony Barber Shop! You can get a reasonably priced haircut and either pixie dust in your hair OR hair gel in the shape of a mickey head! Tons of fun!

Also, hot dogs at Casey's are good and so is the ice cream place (yummmmmm), and of course, shopping shopping shopping......

Look at how the buildings are designed (forced perspective). Check out the names on the windows on the upper floors. Some are original Disney employees, one actually is the name of the company used to acquire the land for WDW! :) Listen to the piano lesson in progress.

Take the trolley from the train station stop to the castle stop. With any luck, the Dapper Dans (I think the group has the same name at Disneyland and WDW--correct me if I'm wrong) will jump on the back an serenade you during the ride.

There are a lot of subtle, interesting things on Main Street.

Edited to add:

Oh! And the Emporeum shop windows! They aren't as grand as they used to be and don't change as often, but they're still fun! :)

I was thinking of getting that exact ring when we go next year!! Good for you! I can't think of a better place to get engaged. Didn't happen for me, but maybe my DH will propose again there next year. My brother proposed there last year to his now wife (they got married last week).

I love stopping at the MS Confectionary and getting 1-2...4 pieces of walnut fudge on our way out:rolleyes1

I will definetaly go check-out the Emporium and see what beautiful things they sell on our upcoming trip.

:cheer2:

There is also city Hall and the Fire house store tucked in the corner next to city hall on left as you come in the park. I cann't rememeber the name of the store. but we always stop in there and get the latest Magic kingdom fire department T shirt. It's a nice little shop.

Loved the goofy statue sitting on the bench and he talks LOL we thought that was funny.

Lady and the tramps foot prints in front of Tony's

The exposition hall as the other poster stated its empty and there are fun sets to take pics with such as a scene from steamboat willie.

VMK central you can do fun quests and even if you don't play vmk the quests are fun to try.

If you go during hot times theres nothing like the Ice cold shops.

Its chessy but I always take my photo with the native american statue, as a joke for my mom (she is full blooded native american)

In the General Store - find the old fashioned phone and pick up the receiver to listen to someone's conversation going on!

Walking down Main Street - seeing the balloon venders, having pic taken in front of castle, smelling the cookies - that's what I dream of when I dream of being back at Disney. I love taking my time walking down that street - even with or without shopping stops.

i still use the ring (got engaged in 96),the plan was to get a real one made with gold and diamonds but i just couldnt do it.i dont wear it all the time but i wear it for dress on special occasions.it is the one piece of jewellery i would be devasted if i lost.
