Well, if anyone remembers my posts, you would know that I was on the last few days countdown prior to our first family WDW trip. My father was rushed to the hospital with complications from chemotherapy, and ended up having his leg amputated. Two weeks later, my husband had surgery on his shoulder (he had an on-the-job injury), and has never fully recovered. This year he had a second surgery, and my father's cancer is getting worse. There is just way too much going on to get away to WDW. We had to file bankruptcy recently because my husband's income dropped so much due to being off from the injury, etc. Anyhow, since we were just days away from our first trip, we had already bought WDW season pass vouchers. They have never been activated and they say that they will be good forever. However, the problem is that our financial situation has deteriorated so much that we probably won't be able to afford such a trip for another two years. I don't feel safe with online auctions or newspaper ads, and was thinking about selling the vouchers, but I'm worried about someone defrauding me. This is the only thing of value that we have, and we could use the extra money for Christmas gifts. Is there absolutely any way to get a refund from Disney???
Would I be better off just holding on to these? There is no way of knowing if we will ever get to go. Thanks for your time.

I would call disney and ask. It couldn't hurt...tell them your situation and maybe, just maybe they'll refund :flower:
If not and you decide you need the money sell them on ebay but DON'T send until you have CONFIRMATION OF PAYMENT>>>>like only accept paypal! Don't forget there are fees for ebay...You could also advertise in the paper and accept CASH or paypal ONLY no checks.
I'm sorry for your trouble...I can relate. Good luck

Even Paypal isn't foolproof, since the transaction can be reversed if the buyer uses a stolen credit card or disputes the charge. If you're very concerned about being ripped off, you might want to consider taking Postal Money Orders only. The money order can be cashed at the post office, and if it's fraudulent, they'll be able to tell you then and there, before you ship. Many sellers think cashier's checks and other money orders are foolproof, but they're not - they are very susceptible to forgery. The grocery store that used to cash money orders stopped accepting them because they had so many forgeries.

I would call Disney and see if you can get your money back. Otherwise keep them in a safe place and use them in the future. The future will be brighter and then you will go to WDW. When you do, you will be glad that you kept the tickets. The trip will be so much cheaper.

I would call disney and explain the situation, see if disney would take a dr's note. I work for a cancer surgeon and we write dr's notes all the time to try and help people out.

Good luck, let me know if you need help writing a letter or anything. I really can feel your pain with your dad, my mom is end stage renal disease, and my DH and I have cancelled many trips. You have to believe and keep telling yourself things will one day get better. I'll send you some pixy dust and keep you in my prayers. :wizard: :wizard:

Thanks for all the replies. I spoke to a Disney store sales person today and she said that due to my difficult situation, that it was a definite possibility that I could get a refund on my passes. She gave me some contact information, and I will try there first. Thanks again for the replies, well wishes, prayers, etc.

I sent an email to an address that a Disney store employee gave me. And, thankfully, I am getting a full refund! I was told several times it couldn't be done, but due to our circumstances, all I had to do was write a letter, send in my tickets, and the refund will be received within 14 days. I spoke to someone today who said it should already be in the mail. I am so happy.....one thing finally went our way. Won't get to see disney any time real soon, but glad to know they are sympathetic when bad things happen.
Still hoping to see disney some day....
