What to do - need 1 more night??

Everyone is so helpful here I thought I would run this one by you. We are going to be in a 2 bedroom at VWL for 4 nights and BCV for 3 nights from December 10-17. Now we have decided to arrive on December 9 (Friday) instead because that will give my daughter and her family cheaper flights and also her birthday is on the Saturday and that will give us a full day to celebrate. I called to find out what the cash price for that night is and it is $618.00 (WOW!!!!). That's out of our price range. What would you do in this situation?? Any suggestions? Thanks.

In the past, to avoid the weekend premiums on-site, we'd stay at a Travelodge or similar motel off-site the first night. It solves the airfare issue, and you can wake early the next morning and be on-site for your daughter's birthday bright-and-early, before most on-site guests are even awake, if you wish.

I agree with bicker - I'd get 2 rooms somewhere off site. The first half of December is slow, so you can get two clean rooms in a nice off site hotel for lots less than $618!

Renting would be $10 pt on the Rent/Transfer board right here on DIS - and that would require 60 points or $600......so not that much difference from the cash price you were quoted.

Make a reservation for two rooms at Pop Century - or equivalent - someplace you wouldn't ordinarily go and just don't unpack - or pack a separate bag and drop the others off at WVL and ask them to hold them till the next day. We drop off our bags early with valet all the time.

Last year we stayed at Pop Century 3 nights before moving over to BWV and the kids loved it because the pools were so much fun. If you are annual passholders, the rate is really low... Or like others have suggested...check in to other hotels like over on International Drive. Go to Sea World the first day you get in.......we've done that too. Or use points that you have for other hotels. We've stayed on points from Marriott and had a 2BR suite...
