What to do in the evenings at the WL?

You can go to dinner at Whispering Canyong. We've eaten there twice for dinner and it was lots of fun.

You can also take the boat to the Contemporary around 9:00 and to to the California Grill where there is a walkway outside the restaurant which has a fabulous view of the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom.

The WL has a terrific pool. Depending on the time of year, you can go to the pool and/or hot tub. And they also have a game room depending on the ages of your family.

Everyone's definition of fun is just a little different. Hope this helps.

Well, I would like to sit in a rocking chair in front of their big fireplace.

You can sit on the beach and watch the electric water parade. You might be able to see MK fireworks from the beach, not sure maybe someone else could verify this.

Electric Water Pageant

Grab some drinks from poolside bar and sit on beach while kids play on playscape/in sand or watch the kids play in the pool

Get the hidden Mickey List from the front desk, and go on a hunt

Shopping at Mercantile

Have a portrait/characture done

Hit the arcade

Laundry, LOL, that's what I do

Take a boat ride over to Ft. Wilderness and check out the campfire sing-a-long with Chip and Dale. Then watch the movie under the stars!

We went over to MK by boat one night just for Spectromagic and fireworks. Sunset on the boatride was spectacular...

Walk around the whole resort at night and check out the different animal designs on the lamps, go to the waterfall path - my favorite.

Sit in the hot tub and wait for the geyser to go off.

MMMMmmmm..... should I do it again for our short October trip!!?????

Enjoy! We all loved it. Pool's great at nite, too!!!!

Great suggestions! Thanks everyone!

Kate-n-sam, are the portraits done in the lobby? Do you know what they cost?

Also, what's your laundry strategy? I've never done laundry at WDW before but I am considering it on this trip since we'll be staying 3 mights at WL and then 3 nights at the Swan. Since I have to pack everything to move it over to the Swan, I was thinking that it might make sense to launder it all first. Then I'd only have to pack 3-4 days worth of clothes.

I have not had the portraits done, I've just seen the artists in the lobby. I think they are more the goofy (no pun intended) characature type sketches, but they may also have a more 'serious' type artist too, forgive me, I forget.

As far as laundry...I find the peak hours to be from about 7-10pm, and have had a lot of difficulty getting a machine or two at those times. I usually do mine late night...put the kids to bed, leave DH in room or on balcony with his laptop and head down around 10 pm, put a load in, go to Territory Lounge for drinks to go, deliver one to DH and head back down to turn the laundry. I've also heard during the day is a good time if the kids are in the pool, you can run back and forth to the laundry room.

Tip: bring your own laundry supplies in ziplox, the vending machines are usually empty or broken which is frustrating. At least that's always my luck.....

Hope this helps :)
