What to do in one day?

Ok...We are going to Orlando for my son's MAW trip Feb 4-9. We get three day tickets to Disney, plus two day tickets to US/IOA. Since we actually only have 4 days available to do anything, we're planning on only using one day at US/IOA. So, is it possible to visit both parks in one day?

Also, is there anything we shouldn't miss or that is likely to disappoint? I know my son is REALLY looking forward to going on the Twister ride (is it still there??), but I'm wondering if it might be kind of disappointing. They were also looking forward to doing the Nickelodeon stuff, but I hear that all there is as far as that goes is the Jimmy Neutron ride.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated!!

I think it is possible to do both parks in one day, but you'd probably need to get there a little before opening. That way you'd miss a lot of the crowds at least for the first park you go to.

Twister is still there at US. We just got back from a trip and it was a great experience as usual. We were in the very front row and could see everything really well. I think you guys will really like it. It's mostly based on the scene from the movie where they're at the drive-in movie.

Yeah, the Nickelodeon stuff is pretty limited, but the Jimmy Neutron ride is pretty fun. Usually you can meet Jimmy, Dora, and Spongebob at some point during the day.

I would say don't miss Jaws, Men in Black, Twister, Shrek 4-D, ET, at US.

IOA, of course, has many more thrill-like rides. Some tamer rides that we really like are Spiderman, Popeye's water ride (though you will get SOAKED on this one), Dudley Do-right's Ripsaw Falls, Jurassic Park River Adventure, Poseidon's Adventure, and everything in Seuss Landing.

We just really like everything at both parks - I would say don't miss anything, but that might be hard for one day. Are you planning on being there on a weekend or weekday? A weekday would probably be a less crowded, so that could make a difference.

Anyway, I hope you guys have blast - and don't give up on this US/IOA board. It doesn't seem to have as much traffic as the Disney boards so sometimes it may take a few days to get more responses.

I'll be there!

Its still slow til right before Pres. day in Feb. so you should have no problem with crowds, even on weekends, but a weekday is the best. Don't know how old your son is so don't know what I'd recommend as must sees. Twister is not a ride at all but a very entertaining experience. Get to the parks early as everyone says and you should fit most of it in. Btw, what is MAW?!

Sorry! I did that the other day on the Disney board, too! LOL My son is 10, and my daughter is 6. And MAW is Make A Wish (got into the habit of just using the abbreviation, and forgot not everyone knew what it meant!! Sorry!). The Make A Wish foundation is the one sponsoring his trip, and we will stay at the Give Kids the World village in Kissimmee.

We will be at US/IOA during the week, although I'm not sure what day as of yet. Sometime between Monday and Thursday, but I was thinking it'll probably be on Thursday. I'm pretty sure my daughter will like the Seuss landing, and I know my son wants to see the Jurassic Park stuff. As for Twister, well, we used to live in Oklahoma, and he was about 3 at the time of the May 3rd tornado (the biggest one to hit Oklahoma...over a mile wide). And since the movie Twister was filmed partially in Oklahoma, he's kind of obsessed with it. :confused3 I think it's probably a boy thing.

Thanks so much for all the help here so far. I've gotten some great advice so far. :thumbsup2

Twister isn't a ride, it's more of a special effects simulation. stay to the far right throughout the queue for the front row and the best experience.

Its VERY possible to do both parks in one day. If you can try to get to Universal a few minutes before they open for the day. I would do IoA first. Normally when I get there I just hang a left and do Hulk and just continue around clockwise doing just about everything as I go. Even if you are not going to ride Hulk I would still go clockwise around since you can normally time it to get to Sinbad around the right time for the show. Since most of the rides are short and if you got there when it opens you can find yourself finished with the park by noon or 1. At that point just head over to USF and get as much done as possible. I think you will be surprised just how much can be done during the slow season in a single day.

Hi,
Four years ago we went to Disney with MAW and I checked in with the Guest Services at the park and they gave us a card to show at the lines and it was treated like a Fastpass. It may be worth asking you MAW rep or calling Universal and or Disney about it. We had a fantastic time !! My son has been cancer free for 4 years !!!!!!!! Best Wishes....
