We just got done this morning booking a cruise for next month on the Wonder with a stop in Key West. that is one place we have never been. Looking at the port adventures and Viator and nothing is really jumping out. Is their a good beach near the port that is easy to get to? Any other suggestions for things to do? Family with a 13 and 9 year old that will do just about anything.

Do the extreme shark feeding tour. My whole family loved it! Right where you dock is the excursion. We loved being out in the boat and getting to see the sharks up close and personal. We did this and still had plenty of time to explore keywest and get key lime pie. You can look up the excursion on line for additional information.

Jet ski tour around the island or parasailing are a couple thing we're looking at. There are beaches you could probably walk to but taxi cabs are available and would be well worth it. I'll be looking into the shark feeding one now though!

We are doing a self walking tour. We plan to visit Hemmingway House, Truman little White House and the Key West Cemetary. We also plan to start the day with key lime pie at Blue Heaven and make a stop in the afternoon at Bo's fish wagon. In between I am sure there will be shops and stops!

1. Trolley tour - some think it's pricey but if you get a Groupon it's not so bad. We enjoyed the tour (had Ms. Vee-what a trip) and being able to get off and on the trolley to stop at 2. Hemingway's House and 3. some place that had frozen chocolate covered key lime pie on a stick.

Duvall Street is fun. Plenty of shops, restaurants, and people to see.

Our daughter was 8 when we ported at Key West. We started with lunch at Margaritaville (just 'cuz it's Key West and it seemed like the right thing to do), then took the trolley tour (so we could see as much of the island as possible) and finished at the Hemingway House (that one was for me).

We make a stop in December and are going to book parasailing for sure, key lime pie on a stick, and photos at the southern most point.

Just try not to walk along Duvall street. It's a little raunchy.

I agree. Our first time in Key West, we didn't realize it and had our kids with us. Fortunately, they were too young to pick up on it. We cut that part of self-guided tour short!

Thank you for the recommendation! I was just telling my husband that there weren't any excursions in Key West that looked that interesting to me for our December sailing... and then this thread popped up. I have 3 boys and I know they will love it. Now I am way more excited about that stop. :)

I felt the same way when we were booking in 2014. We had incredible time. There's a discount for paying in cash and also, I did a Google search and found a coupon that they let me use too.

We just did the shark feeding and parasailing in March. Both were booked on our own and excellent!!!

We were there in May, got off boat and rented an electric hummer. Road it all around the island stopping at all the major places. We didn't have any problem finding places to park it. It was only $100.00 for they day and we fit 4 adults in it without any problems.

I really enjoyed seeing the 6 toed cats at the Hemingway House.
