What to do in Celebration FL?

owners there can be probably be more specific, but we take guests to the area past the golf course club house and enjoy the homes on that street and then turn left past the golf course and just wander around the streets...there are lots of neat townhouses and condos, but the homes back off the main areas are spectacular, especially spring and Christmas time...

Celebration is probably about 4-6 sq miles...again residents might know better...I do not remember any street names...again we just drive around until we get lost on the back streets and find our way out....enjoy...Ted

All we ask is that if you're not going to drive the speed limit, at least pull over to let us pass :goodvibes

will do...the price you pay for living in a showplace neighborhood!!

You can really tell us from the residents, huh???

All the best....Ted

Welcome home - you'll love it here, even though like any town in America it has it's warts and downsides.

Suggestion to visitors on the weekends, stop by town hall and pick up a list of open houses. Even if you're not buying, you can have some fun tours.

And to anyone eating at the very good Celebration Town Tavern, they honor the DDE card for a ten percent discount.

Question for those of you from Celebration. Is there an advantage for the town if we do a Segway tour on your property compared to WDW. Does the town get anything from the tours, If so we will take a Segway tour there instead of Epcot, plus it is a little cheaper ( I know it is shorter but that is o.k.) thanks .

I would say there is no advantage for the Town, renting a Segway. The business (as far as I know) is owned by a Town resident.
Just last week we helped some lost souls find their way back to Town.

The town does not get anything from the tours, however they ARE owned and operated by a Celebration local (help the small business man). Stop in and see Mike, he is the nicest guy you'll ever want to meet. His tours are MUCH, MUCH cheaper than Epoct and you'll spend a lot more actual time riding the Segways and seeing the sights than you would at Epcot. Please understand I am not saying anything bad about Disney's tours, (I spend more time on their property than mine!) I just am a big fan of my town and the local businesses. Tell Mike that Dana says "Hey"

My Dh is transferring with his job and absolutely fell in love with this place. We are flying down on Father's Day weekend to look around. We would be renting first, since we still have a house in NY for sale!! Any insights or tidbits I might need would be appreciated. Thx.

Celebration is a great place - with lots to do!

My recommendations:

Feeling thirsty?
Stop by Walker's Drug Store and enjoy a delicious milk shake or bottle of pop.

Pretend you're a local:
Stop by Floyd's Barber shop for a quick trim and catch the "local news"

Dinning:
I recommend the Bluebird Dinner

:woohoo: :woohoo: I'm there too!!! Been waiting 4 long years but finally we are moving in the end of the month.

We are already locals so we know Celebration. It's a great community for all ages with lots for everyone to do.

Market Street Cafe also accepts DDE

How do you get there? It looks really interesting.

Also, what is the name of the Segway rental place... and does anyone know of his rates.

Has anyone stayed there yet? It's looks real nice and is big enough for my family of six. We're looking into it for next week.

Amen to that!!!

The way to tell a tourist on our 25 MPH streets: They are driving 10 MPH with frequent stops.

The way to tell a local: They're driving 40 MPH and ready to squash you in their Hummer (green Celebration license plate in front is optional but frequent).

Here's a neat recent video about our town (I'm the second person babbling in it): http://current.com/items/88972930_living_in_a_bubble

Celebration is a great place to live and the downtown area is really pleasant with some super restaurants and shops. But it is just a small town and is nothing like one of the parks. So don't expect Main Street USA. But do plan a visit around a meal at one of the restaurants downtown.

LOL
Up our way if you are going 26 in the 25 you have the police ready to squash you through downtown Windermere.

Just back from our stay at The Mona Lisa Hotel. Beautiful pool and nice size rooms with especially large size bathrooms. The restaurant wasn't open yet, we didn't know that prior ,so we took numerous trips into town for meals. Looked at a few rental houses, but since we want a pool, our choices are very limited. Still waiting to hear from one owner, so we'll see. Overall, had a great trip and looking forward to going back.

Last year when my daughter and I were staying in Formosa Gardens I saw that there was a French teacher position open at the Celebration High School - I was drooling!!! As soon as she graduates, I'll be looking again!
