What to do if a restaurant (Chef Mickey) is all filled?

Without going into a long explanation... (we're going in late Feb, 2 parents, 3 kids.) ...there's a dinner-time we would like to be at Chef Mickey's, and it's essentially sold out for that whole evening.

We made backup reservations for another restaurant, but we still prefer Chef Mickey for that certain night... what to do?

Just try calling everyday to see if anyone has cancelled? (and then we'd cancel our backup reservation at the other restaurant)

We're staying at the GF.. can we call now and ask someone there to try to find an opening at Chef Mickey for that night for us? (do we have be signed up with some kid of Concierge service?) Thanks in advance.

Keep calling, there may be a cancellation.

If you booked a concierge room, then the concierge should contact you about assisting with dining reservations.

If you arrive at 4:00 or just before, they might take you as a walk-up?

We did that for breakfast before for my son's bday - got there at 6:45 am and had no problem at all.

Definitely keep calling, or see if you can switch your dates with another ADR. I had the same problem. When I called in January for Easter Week ADRs, I was a little worried but had no issues except Chef Mickey's was totally booked for dinner not only on the day I wanted to go (day 4 of our trip) but on all of the days til the end of my trip.

Called back the next day, and asked CM to check backwards to the beginning of my trip, found an opening on Day 2, made the ADR for Chef Mickey's, made an ADR for Day 2 restaurant on Day 4, and then cancelled superfluous Day 2 ressie.

Took awhile, but the CM was very nice, & helpful.

It is worth it to call back!

The acronym: CM = Chef Mickey?

Thanks folks... no, we didn't book a Concierge room at the GF... can they still help me (if I call in advance and say I'm going to be staying there) with getting ADR's for Chef Mickey? (end of this month)

As others have stated....KEEP CALLING..I had stated in a different post about ADR's----I wanted an ADR for CM in April & called twice a day for 4 days---I had expected to here her say sorry.........& instead she said how about 5:05....I was SO excited...just keep calling!!! Good luck :thumbsup2

Sorry, but.....huh? :confused3

If Chef Mickey's was completely booked for the duration of the trip, then where did the available ADR magically come from? I don't understand how checking your dates going backwards would make a difference.

The acronym CM stands for "Cast Member" -- meaning a WDW employee of some sort.

I also doubt you'll be able to take advantage of concierge services without paying for it. If that was the case, everyone would be doing that.

I would imagine the 5:05 ADR that magically appeared was a result of a cancellation and the caller just happened to make the call requesting the ADR at just the right time.

I dont know about dinner but we were able to walk up at 7;15 breakfast to Chef Mickey and get in. So I cancelled our 9am for two mornings later, so maybe try breakfast since you are at GF and are so close or keep calling, the closer you get the more people have to cancel things bc of having to cancel the whole trip. I would aslo try while I was there bc people cancel during the trip as well. GL and have fun.

Just an update... I kept calling about once per day since I started this thread, and on Friday night (2/15) I finally got a decent dinner res for Chef Mickey. The agent on the other end even said something like "Oh look, we have a cancellation". So, it took about 10 days of calling.

The poster said when she originally called, she tried for day 4 of her trip and all dates AFTER that. (I'm assuming b/c she had already made the ADR's for the earlier dates). Then she called back and had them check the earlier dates, one was available and she moved the restaurant originally scheduled for that day (2) to day 4. So nothing magically appeared - the first 3 days of her trip weren't checked the first time.

Oh, and congrats OP!!! Glad you got in!
