:sad2: Here's the delima...

My best friend, who will be my matron of honor, for our intimate vow renewal just told me that May 2008 is not possible. Actually, Jan - May is their busy time--they run a local plant nursery. Our VR was tentatively scheduled for May 8, 2008, I have Randy lined out already.

I want this girl and her husband there and they want nothing more than to be there. So here's what I thought of doing.

Moving the celebration up to December 2007...incorporate MVMCP into the works and still have a dessert party too. The parks will be decorated so beautifully for the holidays...Mickey and Christmas...I wouldn't be able to stand myself :cloud9:

or

Move the VR to June in order to accommodate them. June is soooooooo hot, but then it's hot in Louisiana too. I'd much rather be hot at Disneyworld than anywhere else.

Our 20th wedding anniversary will be May 28, 2008 and the VR is to celebrate that.

I need some advice from my friends here on the DIS. I know it's going to happen, I just don't know when.

Thanks for listening :listen:

I went to MVMCP this past November, and the parks are GORGEOUS!

The weather was beautiful. We were there until Dec 4. We stayed for 10 days and had not one drop of rain and the weather was a cool 70-75. Perfect weather!

This is one of those decisions that either way you go you will be fine! The holidays are gorgeous at the world, but there is something about eating that mickey ice cream bar or dole whip in the hot florida sun that makes you feel as if you are "home".

Fairy_Tale_Bride got married this past June and in past posts has talked about how they had to let their clothes dry out because of all the sweat due to the heat. And if DH will be in a tux, that may almost be torturous.

Talk it over with your closest guests and get opinions. Some may lean more one way than the other.

Good Luck!

Personaly I would say Do it Dec 2009 But thats because Im weird about celebrating thigns before they happen.
As a Fl resident i say do it in the winter because it will be a little less crowded because in the summer all the Fl camps go to disney.
That and you wont die of heatstroke.
heh.

Hope I helped.

How about your "20 1/2" anniversary . . . celebrate 6 months LATER, to the day.

with the holidays dessert parties cant always be accomodated so keep that in mind for december.

if this couple means that much to you i would switch to june then its still close to your anniversary or any other time of year that works best for you 2.

I vote for the December VR. It sounds like everyone will be more relaxed, certainly the weather is nicer, and I don't think a date on a calendar (the Anniversary date) should drive things. Just my own opinion on that, and I realize I am not much of a sentimentalist.

I agree, there are no "wrong" or "bad" choices--just entirely different.

My wedding was moved up from April to December, so I understand where you are coming from--I was all set for a spring theme, and then it was changed to mid-December. I was kinda upset, but now I love the idea.

Whatever you do will be wonderful. Sit down and maybe list all the pros and cons of each, and perhaps that will help.

It's a dilemma, but a happy one! Good luck to you, whatever you decide, and congratulations on your lasting union, and upcoming VR!

I LOVE the decorations for Holidays! I'd vote for December! The weather is much better (no worries about hurricanes either). I just can't envision having a wedding in the hot, sticky dog days of summer.

I'm biased because we're doing a December 2007 wedding (maybe we'll see you there!) I think Disney is beautiful at Christmas. There is a ginger bread house in the GF hotel lobby. There are MILLIONS of Christmas lights, and you can see the Christmas parade! In Dec, the weather is fabulous. I say go for December!!

Thanks so much for the input. I appreciate all the suggestions. :grouphug:

How long do they leave the Christmas decorations up in the parks? I'm sure I know the answer to that question, but at this moment...it escapes me.

My friend is not only a nursery owner, but at that time she will be teaching school. so we have to work with her school schedule too. She feels bad because she says "I feel like I'm jacking around your wedding". I told her it didn't matter to me...all that matters is that she is there. My love for DH won't change because we have to have our vow renewal at a different time. ;)

Thanks again :dance3:

I believe that they leave the holiday decorations up until after New Years Eve--and the World is absolutely gorgeous around Christmas...:-D I can understand how it is with a plant nursery--I work part time at a tree farm, and it can definitely be insane during the spring season! If you and your DH don't mind, I'd do it in December--the weather is better, and what's better than seeing WDW all dressed up for Christmas?
