We will be staying at Port Orleans Riverside 6/19/15 -6/20/15. We are just staying at the resort we won't be visiting any parks. I have us reservations at Ohanas and 1900 Park Fare but was just wondering if anyone would have some suggestions on things to do and see around the resorts. I know we will go to Downtown Disney but didn't know if there was anything special that we shouldn't miss or normally wouldn't do when we visit and go to the parks? Thanks

Fantasia mini golf is really nice. You can spend some time exploring the boardwalk, get a bite to eat than take a short walk over to the golf courses. Yes there are two, putt-putt and pitch and putt. My daughter and I did it in the evening, it was very empty and we were not sweating in the hot daytime sun.

If you have an early evening reservation at O'hana I would get there early enough in the late afternoon to enjoy the free hula lessons in the lobby! They are so fun. The kids and I really enjoyed that. Also just shopping or poking around the Great Ceremonial House where O'hana is located is really interesting. We like to walk the grounds and if you time it well you might even see the cast members light the tiki torches for the night!
Sometimes we just like to ride the monorail or take the resort launch for a leisurely ride. The boat will take you from The Polynesian to the Magic Kingdom, the Grand Floridian and then back to the Polynesian. You'll catch a nice breeze and enjoy a scenic ride around the lake. Take time to walk around the resort and enjoy the beautiful grounds and lovely views.
If you get a chance head on over to Disney's Boardwalk to enjoy entertainment and games on the Boardwalk. You can rent surrey bikes, get ice cream or a delicious treat at the Boardwalk Bakery!

Your resort will have activities during the day but one of our favorite night time activities is to enjoy roasting marshmallows over the campfire and watching a movie. Check the Port Orleans Riverside Activity and Recreation Guide when you check in for the time and place at your resort. We have had fun on resort days participating in Cast Member led activities such as Mickey Mouse Tie Dyed Tshirts! Check your guide for the specific activities available when you check in.

Our kids' favorite non-park activity (besides pool time at the resort) is renting sea racers at a marina. We've rented at YC before, but Poly or GF would be even better - so much space around the seven seas lagoon and bay lake. And our youngest is very interested in the hot air balloon at downtown disney - might fit that into our non-park plans sometime.

if you get back to your resort after dinner and downtown disney.. See Yeehaw Bob at the river roost! You will have so much fun!

Mini golf at Fantasia or Winter Summerland, splitsville Bowling at DTD, characters in flight at DTD, the amc fork and screen at DTD, the archery program at Ft Wilderness, petting zoo at ft wilderness, campfire sing-along at ft wilderness, visit AKL to see the savanna or to learn about African culture, stroll the boardwalk at night, movie by the pool at your resort, maybe rent a surrey bike or a sea racer

Thank you so much. I'm sad we won't be going to any parks but at least I am still at Disney for 2 days.

Port Orleans is so beautiful, just walk around. I second the OP, definitely see Yeehaw Bob at River Roost.

The waterparks would be awesome to visit! Typhoon Lagoon's wave pool is great and while you still need to pay admission, I think it is less than MK or the other parks's admission prices. I like Typhoon Lagoon almost as much as I love MK :)
