What to do for first anniversary

So I decided on a week long trip to Disney. I got the time off approved at work now I just need to find a hotel and some restaurants that aren't booked up lol. I'm really glad I asked here I was totally ready to book the cruise. I like that we'll be back where we got married and I'm working on getting a mini replica of our cake done for one dinner :) It's a lot easier trip, hotel can be canceled 5 days out and we just need to drive up.

Which hotels are not booked? Maybe we can help you chose one? :) (I've stayed at 11 Disney hotels!)

It’s probably easier to say what is booked since there’s still a bunch available. I had just really wanted The Contemporary. I do want to stay in a deluxe. The others sold out are Wilderness Lodge, Grand Floridian villas, and beach club villas. Some of the other hotels that still have availability are the most expensive rooms though. I’m thinking maybe the Boardwalk since we can walk to two parks, but I had wanted to stay near Magic Kingdom so I’m conflicted lol

The Boardwalk area is my favorite on property, much more than the Magic Kingdom area. If you haven't gone to Jellyrolls yet, that's a great option for something to do on an anniversary trip. And it's just lovely walking around at night.

I haven't been to Jellyrolls yet so that would be a great option for at night! It's during food and wine too so it would be nice to be in walking distance of Epcot.

When you say "villas" does that mean that the hotel still has availability in regular rooms? Keep checking because rooms can become available at any time.

Have you ever tried the Yacht Club? (Loved it) It shares amenities with the Beach Club, aka the best pool in all WDW in my opinion.

What about the Polynesian? It's lovely.

Grand Flo' is also one of my favorites.

Have you thought about Animal Kingdom Lodge? Not sure if you have been there before. I thought it was far more beautiful and captivating than I expected (the pictures do not do it justice), the buses were more convenient than I expected (they seem to run more frequently than at other resorts, maybe because they are not shared so don't fill up prior to your resort), and Jiko is a terrific option for a romantic anniversary dinner. I think they even have some special safaris and wine tastings you can book that might be a unique and fun way to celebrate.

Boardwalk is a solid option, but is my least favorite of the deluxes. We stayed there last summer and loved the convenience of the transportation. But I was a little underwhelmed by the hotel itself--the rooms and hallways were a little drab and felt like they were in need of a refresh, clown pool is okay (less creepy than it looks online) but not the greatest, and I didn't like that we had to walk to the boardwalk for a morning coffee because they had no quick service in the hotel proper. I'm definitely nitpicking though.

Agree 100% on Animal Kingdom Lodge. It is beautiful and magical!

Yes, the hotel portion has some rooms available. Yacht Club I've never stayed at, it is available for some of the options I'm looking at. I'm playing around with dates, we decided to go to Universal too and trying to figure out where in our trip we are putting it. It changes the availability of hotels. I wasn't a big fan of Poly, I do like Grand, but they have a lot of rooms sold out so the pricier ones are left.

Our last trip to Disney in April we stayed at AKL so I wanted to go somewhere different this time. I definitely don't like the quick service options at the Epcot resorts, I think the Magic Kingdom ones are a lot better. I think my husband prefers that area though more than MK.

It is a really beautiful hotel, I love the savanna views. It was the last hotel we stayed at though so I'd like to do something different this time.

I was thinking of maybe doing Four Seasons instead, but I've never stayed there and not sure how it'll be with transportation to the parks. I've heard it's nice though.

Four Seasons is by far the nicest resort “on” property. We love the restaurants especially Capa, the spa is incredible, and the pool area is the best in Orlando. The busses are very nice charter style buses but drop you off farther away and aren’t as frequent as Disney’s. But fortunately you can now get Minnie Vans at the Four Seasons.

I would love to stay at this resort!

That sounds nice :) we would probably use a mixture of the buses and Minnie vans. It’s actually coming in cheaper than a Disney deluxe
