DH and I are headed to Universal Studios next week. No kids and we have absolutely no interest in Harry Potter but may hop on over to IOA at the end of the day if we can get through the studios by 3 or so. In what order, should we do Universal Studios? Which rides have the biggest back up. DH will do everything but I am a ride chicken and can only do rides without large drops. Big Thunder and Space Mtn at MK are the most I can handle. We wont do any of the kids things since we will be do 50 year old adults.

The crowds shouldn't be too bad next week and if you get there early, you can do whatever you want. The crowds don't usually start showing up until 10am or so. You will find Shrek, Rockit, Revenge of the Mummy, The Simpsons and MIB usually have the longest waits but again...if you get there early you shouldn't have too many issues.

You should do the Mummy and Rip Ride Rocket as your first two selections as the lines grow the quickest there. But really right now, things are relatively slow at Universal until Spring Break begins. And even if you have no interest in the Harry Potter story, would recommend you go there FIRST first and ride it anyway because it represents incredible ride technology never done before.

I will answer your question but will give you my opinion on this point first. We always do IOA first, and it is by far my favorite park out of all theme parks. This is for a few reasons, 1, the theming is incredible and you just feel like you are in another world being there. 2. Some of my favorite rides are there, Jurassic Park and Spiderman. 3. I just love the Jurassic Park area and the Lost Continent area (BTW eat at Mythos in IOA/Lost Continent, best theme park restaurant in the world). JP makes you feel like you are literally at the island out of the movie, and the LC area is probably my favorite area out of any park period. It is just such a cool area, you will see when you get there. (And I'm leaving Harry Potter out of this entire conversation.)

Now for Studios, I would say, Terminator (1st because it is near the entrance) Mummy, Twister, (RRR if you can do mega coaster), Simpsons, Jaws, MIB and then ET.
