Planning a girls weekend to Cincinnati to visit Ikea and jungle Jim's. Never been to jungle Jim's. Any recommendations on special goodies or things to do. We are foodies and winos lol. I'm eating low carb but may pick up a few goodies for DH and DS. We'll bring a cooler.

Trying to get an idea just how amazingly huge this place is? We'll do ikea sat and JJ Sunday

I have never been to IKEA. I have been to Jungle Jim's. They have a lot of fun things to try from every country you could imagine. You could buy bottled drinks, salsa, pickles, hot sauce, you name it. They also have a bakery with some of the best looking baked goods you will ever see. The pumpkin roll is so rich and delicious. They also have lots of fresh produce, and wine!

When I go I never miss the bakery section, it is to die for! I always have a hard time trying to decide what I am going to buy, so I end up buy too much.

They also have an awesome beer and wine selection. If your husband likes beer, he will get lost there.

Sound like so much fun. Are there employees around if you. Have questions?. And are there samples? Would you eat lunch or breakfast there?

Thanks

You have to check out the bathrooms!

JJ's has a fun candy section, great salsa, tons of hot sauce and a huge beer / wine selection. Last time I was there I was specifically looking for Italian dishes for a project for my daughter. I loved the pasta, sauce and candy.

As mentioned by others, the bakery section is great.

The monorail out front of the Fairfield location was from a ride a Kings Island. There are also lots of animatronics to entertain you.

As for meals, there are restaurants on the campus (CiCi's, Jimmy John's, Chipotle, Buffalo Wings and Rings, Starbucks). If you are not from the Cincinnati area, I would suggest you try some Cincinnati chili - I prefer Skyline.

There are 2 Jungle Jim's locations in Cincinnati now. I go to the newer one. I don't eat there but I do eat at Ikea. They have a very reasonably priced cafe upstairs. Save room for the desserts that are available downstairs by the check out too! Maybe you could try one of the local Cincinnati restaurants for lunch on your Jungle Jim's day. Skyline Chili, LaRosa's Pizza or Greater's Ice Cream. :) Have fun!

I like the little International village at the back of jungle jim's. it has little individual looking houses filled with food from whatever country there is. I remember a France one, Holland, Ireland and I can't remember what else!

The produce section can have unusual fruits or veggies that can be fun to use. Also recommend the hot sauce aisle and cheese area. Also check out the doors to the bathrooms by the beer. Fun!

I do recommend the food at Ikea in the upstairs cafe if you are hungry there.

sounds like there are a lot of options near there. I have eaten at the Ikea cafeteria before and enjoyed it.

making a shopping list of sorts - although it seems like both of those places may just lead to all kind of random purchases. :lmao:

thanks for the ideas!

The wine and alcohol sections are awesome.

My favs are the cheese area, the little areas for each country have very neat things, the kids love the fish (ew), the bakery, and DH loves all the hot sauces. We usually come home with 7 or 8 bottles of hot sauce alone!

We are due for a trip soon, we are only about 1.5 hour drive away from the store.
