We are staying at OKW on Nov. 24-Dec.1 and are thinking about flying in a couple of days early and seeing somewhere else in the area. Where would you also travel for maybe three nights around Orlando, or Vero Beach, etc.? It will be me, DH, DS (4) and DS (1). TIA!

Your question has me scratching my head a little because I'm not really sure what you are asking. If you are asking what we do besides WDW when we are at OKW, there are certainly many things in the area to see. Your trip, however, is not an overly long one. When we are at OKW, we are usually there 9-11 nights, and rarely leave the Disney resort complex. When we do, it is usually to go to the grocery store, the outlet malls, or sometimes to the Cape to NASA. There is always Sea World and other attractions as well, but we don't usually take them in. OKW is so much of a destination itself, there seems to be no need.

What I was asking is if we decided to come into Florida a couple of days earlier and stay offsite at another location, what are some good ideas for our family type. The seven nights we are at OKW, we will probably never leave the complex, well maybe to go to the outlets, but thats it. We have been to WDW four times and are looking to just explore the area a little more before we start our disney trip. Thanks for the input though.

well, you could visit a beach for a couple of days, with kids that young, a couple days at the beach is enough fun...and then on to Disney! Or,you could try a different Disney hotel, just swim and enjoy the 'different' feel-the beaches near Cape Canaveral are nice-,and you can find hotels in Cocoa Beach-Vero Beach is a lovely side trip-but 2 1/2 hours from Disney- nice pool and beach!

You could go over to the Gulf and relax before pounding the Disney pavement. We would take the Gulf over the ocean any day. We did a few nights at St. Pete Beach and that was great. While there we spent a day at Busch Gardens. This April we are splitting our WDW stay with a 3 night jaunt to Ft. Myers Beach and Sanibel. The guys are going on a saltwater charter and DD12 and I are going to R&R!!!! Quite a different pace over there than at WDW.

We have enjoyed both NASA and New Smyrna Beach. Of course, there is always Sea World and Universal should you like more of the same as WDW.
