I have been selling a few things here and there on Ebay the past week to make some extra $. I sold a TI-82 calculator on Thurs. The bidder has a (0) history and I haven't heard from them yet. I haen't encountered this problem before. What should I do.

Did you set a deadline in your ad of when you must hear from the buyer? If not, and it closed on Thursday the person may have left on a short weekend trip directly from work Friday. I would wait until Tuesday night before getting nervous. Send an extra e-mail. Wait until at least Thursday night (a week has passed) and then send a payment reminder through eBay's NPB service.

Note that any e-mails you send to this person should be through eBay and not your regular e-mail service so there is a record at eBay of your colleciton attempts.

I often pull their contact info. Even if I don't call, it often gets the ball rolling. At day 8, I file a non paying bidder. If those two things don't do it (after the usual reminder note), then I assume I won't be paid. One or the other usually works.:

I have never called a non paying bidder, I just file with Ebay. They may be out of town for the weekend, I have had bidders pay over a week after the auction ends.

This may sound like a stupid question, and I really don't mean to insult you!

Did you send an invoice? Alot of buyers, especially new ones, will wait for the seller to send an invoice before they pay. Sometimes they don't realize they can pay right away. I have had that happen twice, the buyers didn't pay until I contacted them.

Good luck! I hope you don't have to go the dispute route!

I have PayPal send invoices automatically after an auction. I set a payment deadline and if I do not receive payment, I start the unpaid item process as soon as possible. I have found after selling for many years that it is a waste of time sending endless reminders and hearing endless payment promises.

I would wait a week, send out one final email, stating "If I don't hear from you by 12 midnight, CST on X Date, I will assume you do not plan on purchasing this item".. or something like that. I give very specific time, down to the time zone, about 3-4 days away. I save that email, to prove that I gave them plenty of chance.

Then, I just put them down as a non paying bidder.
