HI everyone!
This is my first post along with our first trip to WDW. I have been there in the past 3 times but never w/kids and its been...18yrs. Anyway, we were planning on going June 4-11 for 4days w/park hopping. From what I have read, for basically pennies more, it is worth my while to bump it up to 7 days. Which means we will stay 9 nts. instead of 7. I am reading that gay day week/weekend will be more crowded. Are we better off leaving on Sat. the 4th getting there on Sun. the 5th to start our 9nts, WDW on Mon.? Thus avoiding the "gay day" crowd? Or is it really not as bad as it seems (crowding) as long as we stay away from the central park that they are supposed to be in on that certain day. Please note I am not anti gay but with it being our first time and doing it w/our 4 daughters, if I can avoid an extra crowd... I was originally planning on leaving Thurs. getting there on Fri. to start WDW on Sat. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
I am sure I will have more ????'s later but I would like to get resv. finalized soon.
Thanks.

I haven't been during that time or any other big gathering, but from reading these board I would say expand your trip and just avoid the planned park for the day.

We were there 2 years ago for that weekend. Actually the crowds were worse by the following Wednesday than the previous weekend. Our typical weekend wait for a popular attraction-even with the gay day, was about 1/2 hour. Then, by Wednesday, my dh and ds (8) had to wait over an hour for some rides. We ended up leaving early those days and hanging at the resort. It seems everyone had the same idea --to hit WDW as soon as their kids get out of school.

 The official Gay Day Schedule does not include Disney every day.
Friday June 3, Epcot
Sunday June5, Magic Kingdom
Monday June 6, Animal Kingdom

It gets more crowded following that weekend because all of the schools are out of session (at least in FL) and families are ready to take a trip.

This year they are out the first week of June in Florida. Don't think any run past June 3.

I try to avoid the parks any parks on Saturday period, i find all sat. to be more crowded with local florida visitors attending.
Have fun.
