Is there a thread regarding what to bring from home? We are checking in to SSR on 11/24 for the first time, and not sure what to bring. Thanks!

Not sure I follow you.......bring clothes of course. If you are staying in a 1 or 2 bedroom bring food or get food while your there since you will have a kitchen. As far as utensils and stuff, the kitchen is stocked with that.

DVC trips have only changed our packing in one way....we bring a lot less clothes because we reserve 1BR or 2BR villas and have a washer/dryer in the villa. So we pack lighter.

We don't pack food because we drive to WDW and make a grocery trip once we're there. If we flew, we'd probably look into the internet food ordering/delivery options.

Other than that, not really much different packing than the typical trip to WDW in a regular resort. Unless you tend to pack kitchen appliances. ;)

Enjoy your first trip home! :)

mithreechicks - i think i follow you and have been wondering the same thing, particulalry with regard to kitchen equipment/utensils. What kind of stuff is provided and what is typically brought/bought? What about beach/pool towels? Dish/laundry detergent? Cribs?

I would imagine there is a thread somewhere where this is covered but would love to know...good question mithreechicks.

There are lots of towels at the pools. Dish liquid and dishwasher soap are provided. 1 or 2 single load boxes of laundry soap are provided in 1 and 2 bedroom units. Pack 'n' Plays are in all units and cribs may be requested on a first come/first served basis.

Spices, if you are going to cook. An easy thing to overlook, but something you will REALLY miss. If you will not have a rental car, or make a grocery run, extra laundy detergent a dishwasher detergent, unles you plan to run each only once.
Snacks.
Extra shoes. It rains ALOT whenever I am there, and shoes always get soaked and never dry out.
Alot of people like the Crocs for just that reason. I like a sports shoe with more support.

Oh, I forgot to add bleach. Someone on one of these disboards reported turning on the whirlpool tub, and black stuff coming out. They were of course horrified. Someone answered to always bring bleach, and run it through the pipes before using the tub.
Does anyone know where that is?

I've said this a hundred times before, but still, for us the one thing that we always are thankful for is bringing our canvas, hang over the door, shoe organizer. We put everything in it and keep the minimal counter space clear. Razor, lotions, first-aid items, medicines, vitamins, etc... We know where to find all that small stuff. We hang it over the Bath door and it is where we store everything small... It really makes things easier.

I bring the over the door shoe rack too- I also like to bring pop up hampers(one for laundry, one for toys, one for pool stuff)....I just hate any place looking messy.

I also like to bring
10 wire hangers- I love to hang all my clothes(I usually request extra hangers from mousekeeping too) But the white wire ones are good to hang out laundry on
6-10 clothes pins
Rechargable batteries

Usually we are in a studio so we do not cook anything(I make toast/bagels etc for breakfast)
I would think based on your user name you are in atleast a 1 bedroom...Good luck and welcome to the dis boards.

Fill a small suitcase with bottled water and check it using DME, if you are using it. After you use the water on vacation, you have an empty suitcase for goodies if you wish.

thanks for all the GREAT tips! I'm so glad my friends referred me to the boards! Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!
