My husband and I are heading to Hilton Head for a romantic weekend 12/14-12/17. We're not DVC members (at least yet anyway!) and have never been to this resort before now. As newbies, what do we need to bring with us? We probably won't be doing much cooking in our room (we have a 1-br. villa), but we will definitely be bringing some wine and snacks with us and since the weather will probably be a little to cool for days at the beach, we'll come armed with stacks of books. Are there any essentials that you can recommend to us? I know that the rooms are furnished with linens and such, but what about dish soap, cleaning utensils, etc.? Is there anything else that we're missing?

We're really looking forward to this trip and can't wait to experience this resort!

Thanks!

I'd suggest bringing a night lite -- may sound strange, but it can be really dark because of the woods and also the dark colors in the units. Otherwise, you'll have a supply of basics - dishwashing soap, etc. If you're in a studio, you'll have paper plates, bowls, and plastic utensils. You may want to bring your favorite coffee as well as filters for the coffee maker (the basket shape, not cone). If all else fails, there's a grocery store very close by, as well as many restaurants within walking distance at the marina. Hope you have a wonderful time

I have to second the suggestion to bring a night light. It is very dark in the rooms. When we were there this past summer, my husband tripped, in the middle of the night, over the lovely chest they have in the master bedroom. It's comical now but at the time, he could have been hurt. In fact, I better add on to my list of things to pack. Most every thing that you will need will be provided for you. We found the prepackaged coffee filters with coffee already in them (Maxwell House, I think) a nice treat. Also we enjoyed using the Tide laundry tablets but we did ALOT of laundry since we were at the beach every day. Enjoy your stay. You'll love HH.

Another vote for a nightlight. I walked into the wall in the bedroom on the way to the bathroom in the middle of the night. And since you will be going when the weather is cooler, I would also take packets of hot chocolate. YUM.

bring some bath stuff from bath & body works or something like it for the huge jetted tub in the bathroom. And get a little bleach or something to clean the jets before you use it. Just fill it up, put a cap ful or two and run the jets. That way you get the water that was in there before out . enjoy

Check out my Jacuzzi 101 primer on my web site for info on how to use this wonderful invention.

The nightlight is always my first suggestion.

I must have good night vision - didn't miss a night light but if that many people suggest one - I'd do it just in case.

I would bring:

Bath Pearls - offers just enough scent for the jacuzzi without the foam and bubbles associated with bath gel.

A Candle - Set it on the balcony and grab a blanket from inside. Then you and your husband can enjoy the view and seclusion while you sit in the rocking chairs.

We went in October and it was incredibly cold while we were there (and windy) although it warmed up when we left and has stayed nice!

Have a wonderful time - it's a lovely resort!
