Ideas of things to buy ahead of time to save money at the parks?

Glow Sticks
Ponchos

What else? Ideas appreciated ;)

Bottles of water, or your own reusable water bottle that you could refill in the parks.

Snacks.

Batteries and memory cards for your camera.

As an alternative to bringing/shipping water I use a Brita bottle

this is a list i have gathered from reading tips on the disboards (not saying you need all of these things; they're just suggestions and ideas. YMMV):

-spray antiperspirant/deodorant (spray in between toes, soles, sides, etc. This will prevent your feet from sweating which results in friction and blisters.)
-over-the-door hampers that fold flat or pop up
-over the door shoe organizer
-purex all in one sheets
-travel wipes
-crystal lite individual packages for water in parks
-mini first aid kit (make your own)
-clothes pin to hang swimsuits on retractable clothesline in bathroom
-body glide (for inner thigh chaffing)
-clear ID badge holders and retractable clips (to hold room key, etc)
-shout wipes
-lysol wipes (clean the door handles, remote, phone, etc)
-balmex for heat rash
-Band-aid blister balm
-swimmer's towel (shamwow) to quickly wipe/dry benches or rides
-Downy Wrinkle Releaser
-mousekeeping envelopes and money
-glowsticks (for MNSSHP), cheap at michaels or dollar store
-Dawn dish detergent pads (clean out reusable mug)
-small brita water pitcher
-febreeze (small portable size)
-mini ice cube tray (maybe the thin ones?)
-ponchos (and a plastic bag to put the wet poncho back in after)
-window clings to decorate your room
-bobbles or brita water bottles?
-pedometer
-moleskin
-coolmax socks
-"just a drop" (type of air freshener)
-ear plugs
-power strip/extension cord
-sunscreen: big bottle and small one for traveling
-small duffle bag folded up in one of the suitcases (for souvenirs)
-hangers (but i think mousekeepers will bring extra if you ask)
-bug spray
-a sheet of small labels that say "If lost, please call ..." with my cell number. (Stick one on the back of cameras, backpacks, etc)
-small key chain led light
-allergy meds
-over the counter pain meds

hope that helps!! :thumbsup2

Why would you bring a mini ice cube trays. If you are going to do the penny press bring quarters and pennies instead of waiting to see if you get pennies and quarters from change. If you plain on sending postcards buy the postcard stamps from home instead of trying to buy the stamps there

get a rain poncho

a small back pack or fanny pack
sitting on a wallet isn't that much fun on rides. keeping up with a purse is a pain or so my wife says.
(they have fanny packs in the sporting good section of most Walmart)

you can find LED and glow in the dark stuff very similar to what Disney sells in the park for 2 to 5 bucks online. Disney charges a wee bit more for these things after dark.

I find the new Mio drink things easier for filling up a water bottle in the park (no litter, no powder for the wind to blow, harder for the kids to make a mess)

Also, if a cast member does something nice for you. Take their picture and make sure you get their name tag. Contact guest services and compliment those hard working cast members. They will get recognized and possibly rewarded. Keep the Disney magic alive.

The absolute most important thing to remember to take home from the park is memories!

Why would you bring a mini ice cube trays.

i assume to put ice in your water bottle in the morning before you head to the park. like i said, i got my list from other members of disboard, and i don't plan to use everything i have on that list. we won't even have a freezer in our fridge since we're staying at a value, so we can't use a mini ice cube tray. as i said, YMMV.

If you're gum chewers, bring it with you because they literally don't sell it anywhere on property. DD often chews gum after meals to aid her digestion so we always make sure to pack a bunch!

Things I bring from home because they're really expensive at WDW:

Sunscreen, batteries.

Fan or mister fan (Target has a great one in the camping section for $3.08!!)

Sewing kit, or even just needle and thread. Had to buy one at the resort gift shop one trip to repair a swimsuit strap, and it was about $8! So maddening.

Refillable water bottle.

"Jif to Go" peanut butter tubs. These are great with apple slices or celery sticks from the food court or CS restaurant. I even bring my own raisins to make "ants on a log" (a treat from my day-camp kid days - celery, peanut butter, raisins. Yumm!)

Ponchos (the cheap throwaway kind).

OTC medications, first aid kit (bandaids, etc.).

Moleskin/bodyglide (not even sure if you can buy this at WDW, but I always bring them).

Extra pair of sunglasses (broke mine one trip).

And this doesn't officially fall in the category of "what to bring because it's expensive to buy at WDW", but I always bring at least one extra pair of contact lenses. I hardly ever wear my glasses, and it would so frustrating to have to wear them all week if something happened to my contacts.

Essential:
Phones- to find each other. Take a picture of your ticket barcodes, too.
Ponchos from walmart, which fit in your pocket.
Sunscreen travel size. Sunglasses. Comfortable small hat.
Propel or crystal lite powder, and one water bottle
Shirt, shorts, shoes that are comfortable wet-- no socks.
Hand towel. Freeze in the summer; dry in the winter.
A Smile.
Your patience.

Overall:
Small backpacks, bagallinis, and carrying sacks, only! Stay light and agile.
If you are staying on site, purchases delivered to your room. Don't pack rat it!
