What to Bring for kids to do while standing in line??

How old are your kids?

I have 3 kids and we just play a game like 'eye spy' or we just talk. I don't like to have to carry stuff to keep them entertained, they just have to learn how to wait like everyone else. I have seen kids with little nintendo games and ipods on listening to music.

The only thing we have brought (with the exception of DD14 who always has headphones in:rotfl2: ), is a handful of trivia cards from Disney Trival Persuit. I'll ask them questions and often, before you know it, everyone in line around us is playing along. Often we just talk about our day, wwhat we have enjoyed, where we are heading, but sometimes this is fun to do and doesn't weigh much at all.

I have a 4 & 8 year old. We play eye spy all of the time. We also play a game that we call 5 (name 5 colors, animals, place you want to visit, etc.) Finally, we talk about whatever comes to our mind. The kids do like to have thumb wars! :goodvibes I don't like carrying around any extra stuff.

My 4 year old didn't need anything to keep her entertained while waiting in lines for rides - she just enjoyed talking about what we had already done and what we were going to be doing next. She was always able to find another little girl to talk to, too. But I always carry her Sony Walkman with Video whenever we leave home. It was fairly inexpensive and not too difficult for an electronics challenged person like me to learn how to download videos to it. She really enjoyed it when we were waiting for TS Meals or waiting for buses. It's nice for me to have a little quite time while waiting also. It keeps her entertained around town also...she rode in the cart at Home Depot for an hour while I was able to do some shopping. Works at the grocery store too!!!

Get Tour Guide Mike and don't stand in lines. Our 1st and 2nd trip were night and day because I had found Mike.

Oh, another thing we do is play "Guess Who- Disney Characters". One person has a character in their head and the otehrs take turns asking yes and no questions till they figure out who it is. We lay it all the time, mostly in the car running errands and stuff.

I've never brought anything to keep my kids entertained. We keep them busy by talking to them about what they have done so far, what they want to do next, and about what is going on around us. Works just fine!

We didn't use anything either. I thought it would be miserable, but we really just avoided waiting in lines. We went to EMH to get in most of our "must do" attractions, used fastpass, and when there were crowds we just did the attractions that had short wait times. The lines we waited in were short enough (15mins or less)that the excitement/anticipation and talking kept them from getting cranky.

I had brought a few things for my youngest because I thought we would need them: little Disney themed toys, stickers, pipe cleaners, etc. but we never wound up taking them out of our bag so after the first few days I just left them in the room and we used them for our drive home.

I COMPLETELY AGREE! When I read this thread, I said to myself, what lines? We don't stand in lines?! :cool1: :cool1:

Our kids will be nearly 4 and 26 month old twins -- we are bringing several bottles of bubbles -- that will entertain all 3 of them for hours should we need it. However, we're going to read Tourguide Mike to avoid the lines altogether (if it's possible)....

We have done the bubbles, and talk of whats to come... and of course snacks.. just wondering if anyone had anything new....

Keep them coming...pixiedust:

It is the only time my kids are "permitted" to talk to strangers (with us present) is at Disney! We love talking to other families in line the typical...where you from..best thing you have done so far.. best meal you have had yet? Interesting to get the responses from newbies and experienced fans alike! We also play the ABC eye spy game and a million variations of it!!) We are a very busy family and it is really a chance to reconnect and chat with each other..not life changing moments but chit-chat and that is yet another reason I LOVE Disney so much!

I also use Tour Guide Mike and we don't usually wait in line. If we do, we talk about what we've done, what we want to do next, what we'll eat, etc.

No offense, but if someone around me was blowing bubbles that were landing around me, I would be very annoyed.

We had our oldest (4) looking all over the attraction line HIDDEN MICKEYS! Also talked and sang songs to youngest. I also had a bottle or sippy cup as a back up plan. We used fast pass and went on rides when it was not crowded so we didn't need much. Don't think I would wait in a line longer than twenty minutes with really young ones. FAST PASSES people!:)

While on vacation last year, my then 4.5 year old DS and I started playing what we call the Alphabet Game. The first person says a word, then the other person has to use the last letter of that word to start the next word.

When we're feeling really wacky:cool1: , we play the Disney version...(all answers must come from something disney related, be it characters, parks, Disney channel, etc.). For example, I might start off and say "Magical Express,"...then he might come back with "Splash Mountain."

Lots of fun, and considering his age--great for reading skills!
