What to avoid

This one is for my kids (although, perhaps it applies to the general public, YMMV...).

Please, please, please, please, PLEASE keep your MOUTH off of: the railing in line for the ride, the table during our meal, the stroller handle, the bench, anything on the playground, door handles, other children, your autograph pen, the water fountain itself, other people's drinks, turnstiles, the bus, cast members, the safety bar, your hands if you haven't washed them, your siblings, door handles, things at the buffet that aren't actually on your plate for keepers, the side of the tub....

You would think that there have been enough complaints about stitch to get Disney to put something else there. It is bad.

LOL :rotfl:
I will try to remember to keep my mouth of your stroller, but no promises!

Cast members? Really?
Just because I'm not judging doesn't mean I can't giggle :rolleyes1

OK, I am fortunate (knock on wood) not to have a biter (yet), so I just sort of threw that in there. But I have had near-strokes at some of the things I have seen my kids put their mouths on. Like my 6 year old and the shopping cart handle... :scared1: I'm a fairly restrained germophobe, but that had me over the edge.

I avoid the turkey legs...just watching people gnaw on them turns my stomach. I know I'm in the minority on this one...but that's okay.

I have to agree with you there, they just do not look apptizing:scared1:,almost under cook. But then again I do not even eat the leggs at home:goodvibes

Nothing!!
You should go and experiance all things and make up your own mind.
You may like something that someone else hates.
If you avoid everything that others don't like, you may not have anything
to do at the parks because there is always someone who didn't like it.
I'm glad I have a mind of my own and use it.

Of all the trips the only thing I regret is the Luau at the Polynesian. The show was bad and the food was average.

I have to disagree, I thought it was awesome! The food was really good & different. I could see how someone might not like the food w/ all the fruits in it. But I"m picky & we loved it! We thought the show was great 2!!

I totally agree!

I don't love Stitch, but I don't mind it and ride it everytime I go.
I like Peter Pan, Carousel of Progress, Peter Pan, Tiki Birds, Country Bears, Tom Sawyers Island, Figment and the People mover. All for different reasons. I don't like RnR or Space mt but that's becuase I don't like Roller Coasters in the dark. :scared1: The rest of my family loves them.

As your family/age changes your taste in attractions change. I used to hate the Hall of Presidents, now I enjoy it and appreciate the history. My DD hated everything but a Small world the first time we took her. Now she loves everything. Would I stand in line now that my kids are all grown up for Dumbo...Nope. But I did when they were little!

I've been going to WDW since 1974 attractions come/go and your appreciation for things change. If you haven't tried something in a long time, give it a wing again. You never know.:upsidedow

Not necesarily one to definitely avoid, but Mickey's Philharmagic is a little more intense than we were expecting. We have two DD's 6&7 who loved BTMRR, EE, Spl.Mtn., etc, but they were scared to death of Philharmagic. That was in June of last year, and they both still talk about how they never want to dee it again.

Stitch's Great Escape in MK. We all disliked it very much.

Isn't it funny how people react to different rides so differently? My DD was 4yrs old when we went to DW last time and she went on that ride like 7 times atleast! I was glad we had a park hopper pass because while going to the AK the second day all she wanted to do was go back to the Stitch ride. She went like 4 times the first day, but that was not enough for her. I don't know what it was about it, but she loved it. She might not like it so much this time IDK.
MY DD's both 4 and 2 last time did not like the It's Tough To Be A Bug ride nor did they like The Little Mermaid because of the giant sea witch. Dinosour was also anther one my 4yr old was terrified of. So I will be curious how they react this time. My 5 1/2 yr old, who was 2 last time, says she will not be scared to go on anything...:) we will see. I now have a DS who is 2 1/2 and I KNOW he will be freaked about the Bugs Life and the Little Mermaid.

Hey! Can you tell me what you dislike about the Coral Reef? I was planning to have that as one of my reservations and have heard good things about it! Please give your info b4 i make plans! Thank you ::MinnieMo

I found nothing wrong with it. I love the ocean and my children loved seeing the different sea creatures in the aquarium. I liked it because I did not have to hear my hungry children whine because they were starving to death. It was a nice distraction to them. They also liked the drinks with the flashing ice cubes. My husband and I LOVED the food and it was a "must go to" restraunt this time around.

Tough to be a bug attraction.

Did not like that at all.

Really??? That's one of the best things at AK. It's a fantastic show with lots of surprises.

My advice would be to do everything once, then make up your own mind. Everyone's opinions and tastes are different. You don't want to take someone's advice to find out that you might have missed something that you really would have enjoyed.

We last went to WDW at Easter. The girls, 17 and 18, had not been since they were 6 and 7, and we let them go a lot on their own this trip. We went with them the first day, and the surprising thing to me is that they LOVED Stitch's Great Escape, had to see it three times that day, and then I don't know how many times the rest of the trip. Many.

But the thing is, I would have included it on the must NOT see list. We love Stitch, and got everything we could with Stitch on it-----but for my own taste, what a terrible "ride" (attraction?) Even Alien Encounter, its predecessor, was a "once-during-your- lifetime" affair. But Stitch is not even good the first time.

Other than that, I say see everything as time allows. It is Disney, after all. Then make your own list of what is worthwhile. And even then, things change over time: I loved Swiss Family Treehouse at DL when I was little and it had just been built, but I've not been on it since. And whereas I used to hate Splash Mountain, I've gotten used to the drops, and endure them because my kids love it and I love the Brer Rabbit characters and the songs so much.

That being said, I would not recommend:
**Sounds Dangerous (headphones did not provide channel separation and it was just a pointless, humorless show)
**Backlot Tour
**Great Movie Ride (this just falls so short of entertainment, for me)
**Winnie the Pooh (it was so disappointing to be mostly cardboard cutouts as opposed to the exciting gps-controlled ride I've heard they did at Tokoyo Disney)----------but do go if your children are stroller-aged!!!!!

Other than that, just have loads of fun!!!!!!

Things I can't wait to do next time I'm there:
**Shop at Downtown Disney
**Splash Mountain
**Get a Mickey-ear Ice Cream
**Goofy's Barnstormer
**Run the marathon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've loved reading all the opinions. The reasons for and against are interesting to hear.

I had the same problem with Honey I shrunked the audience at DL during our trip in Feb. MY younger son was so scared afterwards, that when we went to do TSMM that he freaked out when he saw the 3 D glasses. I had to explain to him that it wasn't scary, and encouraged him to give it a try. He ended up loving the ride, and went on it many times while we were there.

This just reminded me. We went to I shrunk the audience last year when DD was 5. If you remember the 3D glasses are handed out as "safety goggles". Well DD began crying because she was so scared in the middle. We told her take your glasses off. She wails "No! They're for safety!":rotfl:

I totally agree with this advice. Do everything you really want to do, then do everything else.

We LOVE It's Tough to Be a Bug, even my autistic kid with sensory issues loves it, so it's all a matter of personal taste.

I also LOVE the Pooh ride.

We ate at the Coral Reef, I didn't hate it. The problem we had with it was basically before being seated. We had reservations but still waited about 45 minutes to be seated. The waiting area is terrible, and everything echoes in there so groups of waiting children screaming were not very relaxing. Once in the restaurant, scenery is beautiful, food is good, but not outstanding. We don't make plans to eat there, but wouldn't be opposed to it. The waiting was really the main problem. Didn't find the whole experience worth that.

Note to self - DO NOT stand in line for Goofy's Barnstormer ever again!!'

Stood in line in the direct June sun for an hour and had heat exhaustion the rest of the day. Very dumb move on my part.:guilty: DD said - "Mom, I remember this being a really quick ride, I don't think it's worth the wait in this heat." DH said, "I'm not waiting in the sun - I'll meet you over in the shade." Did I listen to either of them?! :rolleyes1
