What Time?

We have a 7:30 am flight out of Boston on a Wednesday morning in late July. We live just west of Worcester. We are considering driving in that morning and parking in an off-airport lot. What time would you suggest we leave home? I have no idea how much, if any, traffic we will hit that early in the morning. We would be taking the Mass Pike most of the way. Thanks for any thoughts

First, I know nothing about your area. That being said, here's what I'd do...

What would be a "normal" drive time between your house and the airport (ie: normal traffic, no construction, no weather delays, etc)? If it's an hour or less, add 30 minutes to your time. If it's 90 minutes-2 hours, add 45 minutes.

Now, flight out at 7:30, I'd want to arrive at 5:30. Subtract the drive time (if you'd have an hour drive normally, subtract 90 minutes). So if your normal drive time would be an hour, I'd leave the house by 4.

Yes, you'll probably be sitting at the gate for 45 minutes to an hour before boarding, but that's what I'd prefer.

It should be about 1 hour, 15 minutes to the parking lot. We were thinking about 4:00.

I'd go earlier to account for parking shuttles. It depends a bit if you're planning to check bags and what airline.

Update: We left out house right at 4:00. Hit no traffic on the Mass Pike and pulled into the parking lot at 5:15. Got on the shuttle to the airport, checked our bags and got through security to our gate area by 6:15. Had breakfast from Dunkin Donuts while waiting to board. Plenty of time
