We're going to do the DDP and plan on just having granola bars or instant oatmeal in our room before heading out to the parks for opening time (October trip). We're not big eaters, but figure the DDP is the way to go and will try not to purchase much at all OOP.

I'm thinking about using our snack credits mid-morning and scheduling ADRs for TS lunches at 1:00 for rest & refueling - we don't return to the resort for rest! My thinking is that we'd get in as many rides as we could before the crowds get crazy.

Does this sound fine, or should I make earlier lunch ADRs? (Nothing has been scheduled yet since I haven't hit the 6 month mark.)

Am I nuts  or sane? Opinions?

I'd go with your plan. Since you're doing TS that'll kind of be your rest period while you eat. Plus you should have worked up a pretty good appetite by then and you'll really appreciate your TS meals. Sounds like fun!

Heh. For us, a 1:00 seating for lunch would be early. Go with what you want. In fact, you'll probably find doing that time or even a bit later will be easier to get a reservation.

We did the same thing for breakfast and got to the park early, had Counter service lunch around 1:00 or so and scheduled 7:00 dinners because we were very full after lunch. This worked out great for us. Coming back to the resort for a swim will allow you to get a snack at the pool bar since swimming makes the kids hungry.

Have fun!.

we are not breakfast eaters so we will be eating lunch around 11am and then eating dinner around 5:30 to 6pm mark.

We eat a CS lunch about 11am also, then snack around 2 or 3, then a later dinner around 7:30 - 8pm. This allows us to relax and wind down enough to get to bed at 11ish.

for my upcoming trip in 2 wks i have lunch ARs at
Fri 130 (landing at MCO 1030, taking ME, checking in at Pop or 2 nights)
Sat planning on cancelling Rainforest and grabbing Tusker House about 12pm
Sun 1230
Mon 230 (Future World tour ends 130ish)
Tues 1pm (Garden tour ends 12pmish)
Wed 130pm (countries tour ends 1230ish)
Thurs 1245
Fri 1230

Since we will be eating a light breakfast in the room, we will be eating lunch around 11:30-11:30 probably.

Thanks for all of your input. It's amazing how my brain shuts down when I'm trying to plan for me, but I always have helpful hints for other people!

I'll most likely keep the times I have. The big problem is that my kids will be on break from school when we go, and they are used to eating lunch at 11:00 and dinner at 5:00. Being at WDW may help them "forget" they need to eat early so that's why I'm thinking a big snack would help.

Now I'm thinking aout loud again. Oh well... :)

There is a thread that lists all of the snacks available everywhere on the Disney dining plan. Some of the snacks are pretty hefty including cheese fries and stuff. These boards have everything!
