What time will Soutrhwest open fares tomorrow?

I can get Phl to Mco Dec 1-7 for $442.00 for 2 people. What do you think should I book it now or wait?

I had just a horrible time trying to book this morning - a very unsatisfactory experience. Can't tell you how many error messages and Ooops I received. It wouldn't recognize our rewards numbers, and in the end wouldn't let me access the Early Bird Check-In because it said the reservation wasn't valid.

Is it always this way on the day the schedules are expanded? I would think their servers should be able to handle the traffic.

Us too...for the same dates 11/6 -11/13 but I don't see any nonstop flights out of Boston. I would MUCH prefer to go nonstop but I thought the flights would have been just a little more reasonable out of PVD. :confused3

Southwest is the only carrier that flies direct from PVD to MCO, right?

I believe that is correct. I usually fly out of Boston on a direct flight but the flights this time are expensive. I was hoping to get SW at a reasonable price, plus PVD is easier to get to for me. Hmmm, back to the drawing board of deciding what to do....

Chicago (MDW) to Orlando - $112 down there, $150 on the way back for my trip the first week of December.

It's On!

Mouse here I come.

Does anyone know when SW will open their schedule further, like Feb/March 2011?

thank you so much! I looked the whole site over several times and never saw this!! Another set of eyes is always good :)

I had a rough time getting onto southwest's site this morning too. When I finally got through it said that all the web rates were sold out and regular fares were $272 each way :headache:

It looks like we will be driving down this year

if there's any chance you can use the credit, buy the more expensive ticket now and then get the credit if the price drops. you have one year from the date you purchase to use it. remember to book your trip as two one way tickets instead of as a round trip, in case only one way the price drops and the other way the price goes up, that way you can change only the part that's to your advantage.

I'm pretty sure you can change just the departure or just the return flight, even for a round-trip ticket.

Also, I used to book flights separately until I ran into a potential problem in doing this for our trip this last February. Our flight down was canceled due to weather. It looked like we were going to have to cancel our whole trip for a while there. At some point I was informed that while Southwest would refund my canceled ticket, they would not refund the return flight because it was booked separately.

Unless something has changed, you can get a credit for RT tickets. Last October we flew down to Florida but couldn't fly back due to our DD coming down with H1N1 so we drove our rental back home. I called SW the night before our flight was suppose to be leave out and explained our situation and we have a credit for our return flight. We've not been able to use it yet so it looks like I'm going to have to pay to extend it but I guess the silver lining is that it's still there. :)

i'm not sure this is accurate. i believe that you have to rebook the whole thing if you make changes. but i'm not an expert. maybe it's just for in case a good DING comes along. because you can't "adjust" to take advantage of a DING--you actually have to cancel and rebook. i go to flyertalk.com to get clarification on these kinds of questions.

also, we had an experience where we had two one-way flights for a trip where the outbound was canceled due to bad weather on the east coast and they refunded the return as well, even though it was on a separate confirmation number. it's still the return. they can tell that.

You can definitely rebook just one leg without rebooking the whole thing, because I have done this before. However, you are correct--you can't do it with DING fares--so if you get a DING, it's to your advantage to book the legs separately.

As far as not getting a refund for a separately booked return flight if the departing flight is cancelled, I'm just repeating what I was told in February. That being said, they told me that I could take the issue up higher, but I didn't have to do that because we didn't have to cancel the whole trip, and we were able to use that reservation after all.

I thought fares were non refundable? that is,is I choose one flight/time now, I can't change it later on without a fee...right? or wrong?

I had trouble when a price decreased for one part of my round trip flight. The system would not allow me to go to the lower price because both legs needed to be Wanna Get Away rates. I had booked the middle fare on the website originally and then a wanna get away opened up for the way down. Said for the round trip change, both had to be Wanna get away fares for the change.

wrong.....southwest doesn't have change fees. :goodvibes
if you change because you found a lower price, the difference goes into the form of a credit, which you can apply toward another flight--good one year from the original date of purchase. if you change because you want travel on a different date and the new ticket is more, you just have to pay the difference in fares---no money is deducted in the form of a change fee.

that's one reason why i love them so much. we've gotten so many little reductions over the year that DD's trip home from college was practically free.

I already booked my flights through Airtran; from BWI, non-stop both ways. It was $192.00 round trip and I need to add $30.00 for one bag each way for a total of $222.00

The fares for Southwest (with no baggage fees) is $243.00, so I am still happy with my Airtran flights.

I noticed the same thing last year as well, Southwest was almost $50.00 more the same week.

Yep you are so right. They have people brainwashed with all the bags fly free.

No the bags don't fly free. It is built into the price of the ticket. It's perception and a very good marketing ploy.
