My 14 year old dd (well 14 tomorrow), had three friends sleep over last night. I heard them up still at 1:20 am, I called downstairs to say go to bed. T that point I was told that they were about to start the second movie.
Now they are still all asleep at 9:30am. I want to make them breakfast before they go home. I just don't know if I should wake them or wait until they wake on their own.

I would let them sleep a bit longer, but you dont want them to sleep the day away and not be able to sleep tonight.

Happy Birthday to your dd! If there is a certain that they are supposed to leave, maybe you should start about an hour before that. Chances are if they're that tired they're not gonna eat that much breakfast.

No offense, but when I was in high school, the whole point of sleepovers was to stay up all night laughing and watching movies and then sleep half the day away. I think that if I had a friend's mother waking me up at 9:30 or 10:00, I probably wouldn't want to stay over there too much. It takes some of the fun away and everyone is tired and cranky.

It's incredibly nice of you to be wanting to make them breakfast though. :)

The boys always stay up until 3 or 4 at our house... and they are usually up and around by 10. Accepted rule here is home by noon.

I think if you started cooking bacon or sausage you would have them awake in no time....... They can go home and sleep the day away! :thumbsup2

Whenever my DD12 has a friend/friends sleep over, I always find out what time their moms are picking them up in the morning & I wake everyone up a 1/2 hour before that. She had a slumber party for her 12th b-day in August & everyone was up til 4:30-5:00a.m. Well, I had to wake them up at 9:30!!

I know what you are saying. But I also feel like I should make them a good breakfast before they go home. I would feel so bad if the first parent rang the doorbell and I hadn't atleast offered their child breakfast because they were still sleeping.
Also, all summer long it was how you described, but that was when it didn't matter if they hung around all day since they didn't have school the next day.

Wake them after the Exederin kicks in.

I say 10 also. Oops...I'll go wake mine too! :hourglass

Did I mention they are all asleep in my family room?

About 10:30.

My DD14 wouldn't have been awake that long, though. :)

Happy Early Birthday to your DD!

Funny you should say that about the vaccuming, after they heard me walking around downstairs they woke up. I saw the family room mess (chips on the floor, candy, you name it. It all got picked up and the vaccum went on.
I made the kids choc. chip pancakes. They were playing the newlywed game (don't ask), and now I am encouraging them to play outside.
To be young again!
