This is why we do midday breaks. I have a 2 & 5 yr old. We like to do early and then late touring, so we definitely need a rest. Besides we go in June when it is hot midday.
Agreed. We will either do midday breaks (unless they are little enough to nap in the stroller still), or we will plan sleep-in non-park days, or both, depending on the length of the trip. You don't want to go home from your vacation needing a vacation, so make sure you plan adequate down time so you won't be doing a forced march. I know it's hard, when you've spent so much money to be there, but you want quality over quantity when it comes to minutes spent in the parks (IMHO).
I agree with Robo's time estimates, not that anyone would question Robo's expertise! As a very generic rule of thumb, we like to be at the bus stop one hour before park opening, but Robo's specific suggestions are better.
My kids are always early to bed, early to rise. They wake early no matter what- so we work with it instead of against it. What that means for us.... rope drop through 3-5ish in the parks. We see a show or do a TS lunch as a little rest. This means we don't see any night entertainment. I know we could not handle late nights AND early mornings- but we have friends whose kids totally can. This time we are going to plan a early/break/late day to see Rivers of Light.... if it ever opens. It is late in our trip, so if it goings horribly wrong, we are leaving the next day and they can sleep on the plane!
