Hello all can some one tell me what time I should be at orlando airport for a 8am flight to Newark with continental airways .

Thanks in advance :thumbsup2

If Newark is your final destination on the ticket booking (i.e. you have booked your flights from the US back to the UK separately) then I believe it is between 90 and 120 minutes (I do recall it saying on their website but haven't checked before posting this). If you have booked an indirect with CO from the UK to MCO return, your MCO departure time is treated as international as they check your passports and check you in for your international flight there.

Nah it's much shorter - 45 minutes for domestic flights if you've got bags to check, 15 minutes if not. For international it's 60 mins with bags and just 30 minutes without. That's the minimum time, but personally I'd get there at least 90 minutes before either domestic or international flights.

We always arrive around two hours before for internal. Same as we would for our flight home to the UK.
Personally I would rather be at MCO, which has a ton of great facilities anyway, than be rushing and worried I won't make my flight if something happens. That's just me though. By the time we've dropped the rental off, dropped the suitcase off and got through security (which can be a nightmare at certain times) we usually have just enough time for a quick bite to eat before boarding.
Kath are the times you have quoted not when you should be at the gate (and through security) rather than just at the airport? I know from experience that we have been 30-45 mins + during the holidays to get through security so I personally would not arrive 15 mins before my flight even without baggage. Also I'm pretty sure with Virgin and BA even if you do online check in you have to pick up boarding cards/drop your bags/be at the airport at least 60 mins before your departure time.

most (if not all) of the US airlines require you to check in a minimum of 30 minutes before the flight (if you haven't done online checkin)..
any less than that and you will be locked out (the computer will lock you out - you will not be able to board that flight)...

but for orlando, you need to be there much earlier than that, as security itself can sometimes take a VERY long time...

Booked the continental flights today and on my Eticket it says that flights from Orlando I need to check in 45 minutes before , we will be there before this .

Yeah sorry, my bad, I meant check in 45 mins before with bags (30 without) and boarding 15 before departure.

I would not leave less than 2 hours for Orlando. IMHO, their security is the slowest and least organized of any airport I have been through. The last time I went, it took me 45 minutes just to get through security. This was after standing in line for 30 minutes to check my bag. For me, I would rather have time to relax than running to gates. Better to be safe than sorry.

In October I think we got there about 1hr before and we had plenty of time, when we flew from Newark home we were a little late and got to to the virgin line at Newark with about 60min to go.
